Social stigma?

It seems that lately whenever SWIM drops a few hits, the people around him get very irritated and mad. Does this happen to anyone else? Should SWIM just start doing it by himself, with people that are also tripping, or just not around people that aren't tripping? I don't really see the big deal...

Re: social stigma?

Life's a difficult balancing act of doing what thou wilt and trying to please others. deciding what to do is really dependent on the situation and SWIY needs to use their better judgement. If SWIY's drug use is coming into conflict with his personal relationships maybe its a better idea to abstain from this particular subtsance for a while.

Re: social stigma?

So true. LSD along with meth, crack and heroin, hold a strong stigma for many people I know. Unlike the other 3 drugs, acid is very safe and it annoys SWIM a lot when people raise their eyebrows and grimace at even the mentioning of the drug. These people should get educated.

SWIM has resolved doing hallucinogens only with others who are tripping also. Closeminded people can ruin the experience.

Re: social stigma?

Being around people who have never taken a psychedelic while being on one can be very irritating. Realize people who have never taken psychedelic drugs just don't understand what someone who is on them is going through.

Also they probably may have some stupid social bias and in that case they can f%ck off.

Re: social stigma?

I see no reason in keeping sanctimonious friends who attempt to assail you with their beliefs that are largely predicated on misinformation and misconceptions.

They obviously have made no attempt to understand SWIY's perspective and wish to impose theirs upon him.

I personally do not keep friends who force their dogma down my throat, but they are SWIY's friends and it is SWIY's life.

Re: Social stigma?

The sad (well, surprising/sad) thing is is these things that one of these people were saying were something along the lines of "anyone who uses that on a regular basis should be shot".... coming from someone who is a heavy alcoholic and uses things a lot more harmful for you (physically and psychologically) than LSD.. SWIM definitely used to use it more than he does now, but I mean come on, give SWIM a break.

Re: Social stigma?

Often, prejudice is born of ignorance. I find it deeply disconcerting that any person would suggest that an individual should be "shot" merely because he exercises freedom of his own mind and body.

Re: Social stigma?

Where are you doing this? If people show up to nobody's house high as fuck, unannounced, nobody is irate at best. They will be lectured on responsibility to say the least.

Nobody is a private user, they put weeks of planning into a tripp, making sure it won't interfere with anything or anyone, making sure nothing will interfere with the tripp. There is a time and a place for drugs, and non-users houses are not that place.

If you are showing up to your friends place and they've told you not to take LSD before coming, they have the right to throw you out. Same as your parents have the right to get mad if you come to their house wasted. You need to learn to be responsible. Everyone has the right to say what they do or don't want guests doing in their house.

If your friends were coming over to your house and lecturing you over what you were doing, you might have a case, but frankly, FAIL!
