darkbreed is learning how to SWIM.
Question Extracting and freebasing benzodiazepines for smoking?

SWIM was wondering if anyone know what form benzodiazepines mostly are in, such as base or not, and if not can they be freebased for better smoking properties and/or snorting etc for that matter?

SWIM know different benzodiazepines are soluble in different solvents , so picking the right solvent for the benzo to be extracted would be the first thing to figure out of course. That's easy enough though, just google its name and "solubility" and usually a big bunch of scientific papers describing what they are soluble in etc comes up.

For now, SWIM did that with Midazolam, and found it to be freely soluble in Acetone, so he crushed a bunch of pills (Dormicum, 15mg each) to powder and put in acetone and stirred well for a while then filtered it and discarded the leftovers of the pills and saved the acetone which is now evaporating.

Luckily Midazolam is already very smokeable even in crushed pill form, so SWIM suppose no further steps are needed with that one to make it more smokeable. Is it already free base form?

If anyone can list the other most common benzodiazepines and what they are soluble in and if they are freebase or not, and if it is possible to free base the ones that are not and how, that would be appreciated.

Also effects of smoking the pure benzodiazepines would be interesting to hearing about - SWIM has tried smoking Diazepam, Flunitrazepam and Alprazolam previously in pure form with great success - specially with Flunitrazepam, amazing to smoke, and highly addictive.

Re: Extracting and freebasing benzodiazepines for smoking?

I have very little knowledge on this subject, but I hate to see a post go unanswered.

I believe most benzos (or at least clonazepam) are highly soluble in alcohol. Most are also at least partially miscible in water, but not very impressively so. I'm far from a chemist (more of a wikipedia buff), but I think acetone is in some ways very chemically similar to some alcohols (ethylene glycol, maybe?), so it makes sense and is interesting that midazolam dissolves in it.

Not totally helpful, maybe, but that's all I know. And knowledge is to be shared.

sad to say, but most BD are slightly soluble in alcohol. a trick to get more information is, to read what solvents are used in injectable benzos (diazepam liquid, midazolam ampoules) poducts.

SWIM would avoid smoking any BD, for several reasons. first swim thinks the most of the substance would get lost by destroying the substance. then there are BD that have to pass the liver first to get an active substance. BD are made for oral consumption, some can be injected. sublingual use is fine with some BD, btw...
