how in god's name did swim mess this up???
last night swim tried to do a simple water extraction of mescaline from san pedro and it didn't get swim or his friends high at all. here's exactly what swim did to make 2 servings:
1. thoroughly blended 850 grams of a fresh 7-foot, 31-pound san pedro cactus with an amount of water roughly equal to the volume of the plant matter. 2. placed mixture on low heat. green foam formed on top of water, while swim stirred constantly. the foam and water slowly combined into one dark-green liquid. 3. swim squeezed the juice out of 1 fresh lemon over the pot. 4. heat was turned up to highest setting on swim's crappy hotplate. later swim was concerned that his hotplate only got the mixture to about 200 degrees fahrenheit and a light boil (swim lives at about 5,000 feet above sea level), so he put the lid on the pot and the mixture got much hotter and reached a full boil. 5. swim watched the pot for about 4 hours, stirring frequently, taking the lid off sometimes and putting it back on, adding water when the water level was low. 6. after 4 hours swim strained the mixture through 1 layer of t-shirt cloth. he boiled it down a little bit to reduce the volume, and was left with 2 cups of dark, opaque, olive-green liquid. swim and his friend B each had .75 cups, while another friend C had .5 cups and a 100-gram piece of fresh cactus. swim and A tripped an almost imperceptable amount, while B said he tripped a bit, and that things were moving in his vision slightly. 3 or 4 hours later B ate 300 more grams of fresh cactus and tripped very satisfactorily, with huge pupils and laughter and everything else. what in god's name did swim do wrong in cooking the liquid? he's extremely frustrated because the last time he tried to make san pedro tea (describe here http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71831) it didn't work (although it worked better that time), and all he can figure is that the lid on the pot had the heat too high or SOMETHING. please tell me what swim diod wrong! thanks for any replies. analogger added 6 Minutes and 0 Seconds later... damn! i messed up the pseudonyms here. it should say: Quote:

850g for 3 people? Swim thinks thats not enough. Extraction sounds within reason.

no, swim and B each had 319 grams worth, while C had 312 in liquid and fresh cactus (before he ate the other 300). when swim used a young 220 gram cactus piece, he tripped much harder, but still far too lightly.

I guess its down to natural variation maybe. Did swiy give the plant a good stressing before preparation?

i'm not sure what you mean by stress. swim purchased an old, 31-pound, 7-foot tall cactus that looks fine as far as he can tell. when pieces of it are eaten people seem to trip, but when swim used the previously mentioned method to extract mescaline, nothing happened at all.

By stressing, I meant basically cruelty to plants. Peyote and San Pedro put their alkaloid concentrations up when they are under stress. This is can be done by keeping the plant in the dark and not giving it any water. A 6cm Peyote that has spent 6 months in darkness without water is a powerful thing indeed.

swimi ordered a large cactus online, how should he store it?
also, if anyone can answer how swim messed up his extraction, please let me know. |

If its a cutting keep it in the dark, and dry. You could chop off the growing tip (4-6 inches) and root it once its calloused over. Then you can grow your own!

good to know. is it possible swim hurt the mescaline by periodically adding cold water from the fridge and causing a temperature shock? was the temperature too high with the lid on when it was boiling hard?
i really have no idea what swim did wrong. can anyone tell me what he did wrong? keep in mind when swim's friend ate an uncooked piece of fresh cactus 300g in weight he tripped pretty hard. i'm desperate here
