Help with cannabis brownies and butter recipes

these are a couple recipes swim found on your forums, and he would like some help on how to use them.swim would also like to note that the words in red are the things he needs help on, and everything will be asked in sequence.

1. Ingredients:

1 lb of butter (real butter)
1 oz of Marijuana

Directions:

Melt the butter in a sauce pan to boiling.
Add the marijuana and let boil until the butter
has turned green from the marijuana.
Pour butter through a strainer to remove all
the pieces of marijuana.
Chill until solid.
----------------------------------------------

swim wants to know what this is, and what temperature would melt the butter, and also wants to know if the marijuana has to be busted up, or just in nugs, and would swim have to chill them in the fridge?

--------------------------------------------------------
2.
1oz semi chopped marijuana
1 part water
1 part butter

Directions:

- Boil the water
- Chuck the butter in & turn it down low.
- add the marijuana
- On a very low heat simmer for a minimum of 2-3 hours.
-Turn off heat & allow to cool
-The contents will separate, scoop the butter out and leave the water and excess weed.

This is an easy way to make the marijuana butter because, THC is not water soluble and when the butter solidifies, will the useless weed stays in the water and all the THC mixes with the butter.
For a better "less green" taste, sit all the marijuana you intend to cook in tepid (slightly above room temp) water overnight, all the Chlorophyll will drain & yet all the THC remains in the weed
--------------------------------------------------------
swim would like to know how chopped this should be
swim wants to know what 1 part is in ml.
swim wants to know to if he should boil everything in a metal pot?
swim wants to know how to simmer this mixture
swim wants to know how he should cool this
swim wants to know what the contents is
swim wants to know if that actually works?
swim wants to know what tepid is
swim wants to know if the water should be warm or cold?
swim wants to know is the butter he scooped out is going to be solid, and if that is ok for my brownies.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Weed Brownies
------------
6 ounces of unsweetened chololate
6 ounces (3/4 cup) of Marijuana butter
4 eggs
1 tablespoonful of vanilla
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 1/2 cups of honey
4 cups of flour
3 tablespoons of Jack Daniels (optional)

Greased 9x12 baking dish or pan

Melt chocolate in a double-boiler saucepan, add butter and honey, mix well, add eggs and mix again, add salt and vanilla, mix again, add flour, mix again. Pour into pan. Bake 35 minutes at 375 degrees. Remove from oven. Allow 1 hour to cool and set before cutting. Cut into 2 inch squares and place in gallon sized ziploc bag for storage or freezing.

For the perfect finish to a special dinner or a special evening try these gourmet honey brownies with a rich, complex flavour and velvety texture guaranteed to please the most discerning.
For variety try adding 3 tablespoons of Jack Daniels, wild turkey, crown royal, or cognac to enrich the flavour; or 1 1/2 cups of cherry halves and 2 tablespoons of brandy; or drops of mint extract in batter to taste; or 2 tablespoons of instant coffee crystals dissolved in 1 tablespoonful of hot water.
Serve with rich coffee, espresso, port or cabernet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
swim would like to know what the hell chololate is, or if thats just a spelling error to chocolate.

swim would like to know if recipe number 2. would produce enough marijuana butter for this.

swim wants to know if he has to use real grease? or if he can just use cooking spray

swim wants to know what that is

swim wants to know if this is in ferenheit, or celcius

swim wants to know is they have to be 2 inches, or can the be bigger

swim wants to know if this will taste good

swim wants to know if the batter is the finished solution, when everything is mixed

swim wants to know roughly how much this will cost him
----------------------------------------------------------------------
thanks

Re: Help with brownie and butter recipes

1. saucepan, it doesn't have to be a saucepan, just a pan thats big enough to hold all of the liquid. Use one that looks like a pot, maybe one that could be used like a hat or something, deep and not very big around. Whatever will work.

2. weed busted up or just in nugs? Grind it up to a fine powder works best for phaze.

3. leme try it this way never mind with three.

These instructions are pretty straight forward and simple. The water is used to heat the butter until it melts, the water will be warm enough in the pan to cause the butter to melt, then throw in the grinded up weed. Simmer is a setting on most new stoves, if its not on yours its below medium heat. Let it cook for 2-3 hours as it says, when the water gets hot the butter melts and the cannabinoids are extracted into the fat of the butter. The butter is then strained through a cheese cloth or wahtever youve got and then put into a bowl.

The reason you do this is to get the grinded up weed particles out, then when you set the mix in the fridge the butter will solidfy with the cannabinoids (goodies) in it and the water will cause the butter to float. basically this is a seperation and youve got pure cannabutter for whatever you choose to make.

The butter as phaze has explained many times over is just used for its fat content, so any other instructions should be understood the same way, fat, or alcohol is the basics. Heat speeds it up, also explained elsewere.

Also i really hope your not trolling because thats alot of questions that are pretty much self explanatory, or can be answered using the forums search engine.

Re: Help with brownie and butter recipes

I don't mean to come off rude here, but most adults know a thing or two about cooking. Please use google to answer your questions. There is plenty of cooking information to be found, also measurements and other tips can be found on www.wikipedia.com

You should be able to find everything you have asked here on your own via the internet. Use it to the best of your ability and good luck to swis with his endeavor.

Re: Help with brownie and butter recipes

just make an alcohol based tincture, its way easier.

151-190 proof alcohol
3.5-as many grams as needed cannabis
heat the cannabis b4hand to extract quicker
place in glass jar with lid (Mccormick spice bottles work)
shake the cannabis for a month or less (minimal of 3 dayz) everyday.
strain alcohol from cannabis into a brown glass bottle with a dropper
re-soak the cannabis to get all the remaining cannabinoids (trust me it will b way more potent if you do this)

Q.swim would like to know how chopped this should be
A. Grinded into powder works best in Phazes opinion

Quote:
Q.swim wants to know what 1 part is in ml.
A. It doesn't really matter Phaze says eyeball it

Quote:
Q.swim wants to know to if he should boil everything in a metal pot?
A. whatever works i guess, just something to hold the water and butter and let it get hot enough to melt and sit a few hours
Quote:
Q.swim wants to know how to simmer this mixture
A. Put the stove below medium, make sure the water is not boiling, most stoves have a simmer setting.
Quote:
Q.swim wants to know how he should cool this
A.fridge

Quote:
Q. swim wants to know what the contents is
A. contents is a word meaning whatever you put in the pot, in this case weed water and butter, the thc will extract out of the weed into the butter, swiy would strain the pot through a filter of some kind to catch the weed particles while the butter is hot and liquidy, after he does that he would use the refrigerator to change the butter from a liquid to a solid, since coolness doesn't change the water to a solid at that temperature the two can be separated since there in completely different states of matter.

Quote:
Q.swim wants to know if that actually works?
A. This is the extraction process and it has been proven that cannabinoids extract into lipids.
*definition of lipids - a class of fats or fat-like substances characterized by their insolubility in water......... IE. Butter.

Quote:
Q. swim wants to know what tepid is
A. In the context of the sentence, "sit all the marijuana you intend to cook in tepid (slightly above room temp) water overnight", Lukewarm, as explained in parenthesis.

Quote:
Q. swim wants to know if the water should be warm or cold?
A. Tepid.

Quote:
Q. swim wants to know is the butter he scooped out is going to be solid, and if that is ok for my brownies.
A. Solid, Butter is solid anyway so it will be fine for your brownies at it will act just like butter.

Quote:
Q. swim would like to know what the hell chololate is, or if thats just a spelling error to chocolate.
A. yes, chocolate, thc extracts into fat.

Quote:
Q. swim would like to know if recipe number 2. would produce enough marijuana butter for this.
A. You can use as much cannabutter as you'd like, depending on potency and which dish your cooking with you can use it as butter and add regular butter if you wish.

Quote:
Q. swim wants to know if he has to use real grease? or if he can just use cooking spray
A. Just cook as you normally do, nothing really matters once you have the cannabutter you can add it with anything youd like. You could even spread it on toast.

Quote:
Q. swim wants to know what that is
A double boiler is kinda chem ware, you can use a electric stove.

Quote:
Q. swim wants to know if this is in ferenheit, or celcius
A. F, if the temp is above 400F there could be reduced potency because the thc will start to vaporize. Best to go around 350 or lower.

Quote:
Q. swim wants to know is they have to be 2 inches, or can the be bigger
A. whatever you'd like

Quote:
Q.swim wants to know if this will taste good
A. preference, some think so

Quote:
Q. swim wants to know if the batter is the finished solution, when everything is mixed
A. I'm not sure this is a serious question.

Quote:
Q. swim wants to know roughly how much this will cost him
A. Depends on how you shop i suppose

Re: Help with brownie and butter recipes

A good rule is to include atleast a gram of weed per brownie. So when cutting up the finished brownies cut into a number that allows for this much weed in each brownie.

Re: Help with cannabis brownies and butter recipes

I met a Kerry fisherman who told me about how he makes his cannabis brownies. He uses the double-boiler method, and does not put the butter in water. Actually, he has found that margarine works somewhat better than butter. He uses "Earth Balance" brand (I'm not giving you a link - their web site is horrible).

A double boiler can be a piece of specialized chemical equipment, but really all it is is two cooking pots, one of which is large enough to hold the other with plenty of leftover space. Fill the larger pot halfway with water, place the smaller pot inside. In order to keep the smaller pot from moving around too much, tie the handles of the pots together with a hair tie or a rubber band or something. Hair ties, by the way, are one of the most portable, useful and versatile drug-preparation tools, second only to the fibula (aka safety pin - keep one pinned to a belt loop).

Anyway, grind or finely chop the cannabis (coffee grinder [another wonderful drug prep tool] works nicely, but remember to scrape out all the lovely crystals!). Bring the water in the lower pot to boil, place the fat and cannabis powder in the upper pot, and sautee for one to five hours. Keep the upper pot covered (unless it is getting too hot), and stir every 10-20 minutes or so. Make sure to keep enough water in the lower pot, obviously it will need refilling occasionally, as it will be boiling off. The fat can then be used in any recipe (from baking to stir-fry or anything else), or as stated above, spread on bread. Spreading on bread can be rather disgusting, but it works.

As far as the ratio of cannabis to fat, it doesn't really matter. Just use all the cannabis you have, and enough fat for the recipe you have planned (or rather somewhat more; some is lost through evaporation). As long as the cannabis is fully covered by the fat, you are alright. It will be found that every batch of cannabutter is a little bit different. It's generally good to get a guinea big to do a test run on any cannabutter you produce, to gauge its strength. Actually, just sopping up what's left on the inside of your bowls with a piece of bread and licking all the spoons should give a good idea (where legal).

The double boiler is just a way of controlling the temperature of the fat. Boiling water can only reach a temperature of 100 degrees C, whereas your hob might get much hotter than that. This makes sure that you don't burn the cannabis or the fat, and destroy your lovely cannabinoids. The double boiler doesn't have to be used, but it just makes things easier - if you are frying the cannabis directly, you have to watch it closely to control the heat. Unlike a poster above, the Kerry fisherman would not recommend the use of an electric hob, unless that's all you have available (as is generally the case in Kerry). He has found that it is much easier to control temperatures with a gas flame.

The fisherman told me that if he is going to use the cannabutter for brownies or other baked goods, there is really no need to strain it. If the butter does get strained, but sure to have someone consume the strained bits (where legal). Using it The taste goes rather nicely with chocolate. He sometimes adds dried mint to the fat as well, to give it an even better taste.

For an added bonus, take a small amount of psychedelic mushrooms, ground them to a powder, and use to frost the brownies. A very simple frosting works quite well: take your Earth Balance (or other margarine, or butter), powdered sugar, powdered mushroom, and a little bit of vanilla extract, and cream this together with a spoon. If you don't know what "creaming" is, it's pretty much just mashing with a spoon until you get a lovely frosting consistency; about as simple as cooking gets. You might add a very small amount of soy or rice milk to fine-tune the consistency.

All of the youTube videos I could find on creaming use an electric beater (here is an example), but you can really just do it with a spoon.

By the way, the brownie recipe the Kerry fisherman generally uses is from the "New Farm Vegetarian Cookbook." The recipe is fantastic; it's entirely vegan, and rather than using "egg replacer" or some other egg substitute, the method uses a roux to produce very nice fudgy brownies, not at all like the terrible dry/cakey "vegan brownies" some aery-faery weirdo might've forced on you sometime. Sadly, most vegans are terrible cooks (so are most meat-eaters, but it's much harder to make meat horribly dry and bland).

The fisherman uses slightly less flour than the recipe suggests. It's generally a wonderful cook book, with lots of great recipes, but he has found they tend to be just a little bit off, so you might have to experiment with them a bit, to make it work for you. It's difficult to stress how great that cook book is, it really belongs in the library of any do-it-yourself cook, vegetarian or not. It's also a great starting point for people who don't know about cooking/food/nutrition, but want to learn.
