Dose - Barbaric measuring: dosing kratom powder w/o scale?

Monkey just ordered a few ounces of "premium bali finely powdered kratom". Now monkey does not have a scale and is wondering about any decent rules of thumb for dosage with powder. He's seen a couple posts scattered around in here estimating dried leaf. Anybody's pets have experience with a workable "X number of teaspoons equals roughly so many grams"?

Dont know about powdered leafs, but SWIM got powdered 30x extract and he has read that most people at erowid seem to use from half to one teaspoon of 15x for nice effects, so he assumet that in his case that would mean 1/4 to half teaspoon for him.

So, then I think it would be safe to assume you could start with one to two teaspoons as starter dose to test out the potency and work up from there if needed.

Yeah, find the average amount a teaspoon/tablespoon of kratom powder weighs somewhere and then carry that over, measuring with teaspoons/tablespoons. I know a lot of informal and less drug-keen kratom users do such. That's what Swim would do with no scale.

2.5 grams is a teaspoon, mind i'm not sure if my kratom is fully dried or not! I think it must be. Retailers wouldn't be selling fresh kratom powder would they? lol, it wud just clump together!

Wow 2.5 g in one teaspoon? must be very compact then. SWIM had 2g of 30x extract and it was enough for several teaspoons. Quite nice too but in retrospect SWIM thinks plain leafs are better and more economical.

Do not take a teaspoon to be a specific weight for granted, some of the more fluffier well ground powder weighs a lot less that some of the courser grind material.
SWIM can fit 0.5g UEI powder in to a single "00" capsule however if he were to fill with say the Standardized 8% Extract he would get much less that 0.5g as the material is "fluffy"

Swiy can't really overdo it with kratom powder, maybe if swiy has some extract, don't know. Swim uses about 2 heaping spoonfuls for a big glass of tea. Experiment and have fun.

A US dollar bill equals about 1 gram, a US nickle on the other hand roughly always 5 grams. Quite the difference.

Nothing can replace a good scale there HA.

I'm pretty sure that if you spend a bit of time with TFSE you can find a rough average amount of kratom powder per teaspoon. Ed just checked and got about 2.5-3g/tsp.

Also, don't forget about those little handheld postal scales they sell in office supply stores. They only cost a few dollars, and they're good enough for kratom.

SWIM uses a precisely calibrated plastic soup spoon from a chinese takeout order. SWIM has no idea what weight is the leaf in the spoon, but now knows that SWIM likes 1/2 a heaping spoonful at a time, give or take depending on grade. SWIM thinks it is hard to overdo with even a heaping spoonful so trial and error work just fine. SWIM has weighed in the past but does not bother most of the time. If it isn't enough, SWIM takes another 1/2 spoon.
Note this is not advisable for dose sensitive substances..

AFAIK a UK 1 penny is 1g and a 2p piece was 3.5g...It was the way SWIM used to check his deals back in the days when ihe smoked.
However, SWIMs memory is poor so if anyone can co-oberate this it would help
