first injection- scary results, please help

a monkey likes oxy's, not in a dangerous way just teh feeling,( not nasal, nor IV, only oral use)

anyways he is smart and was just playing with a needle to see if he could get over the phobia of the sticking. so he got a spoon, put a bit of oxy in, not a perc, a 40mg.

he put enough in so he would not get high but would havae soem in his system. got a vein, cleaned injection site, opened fresh syringe, inserted. drew back some blood to see if it was in and it was, so he then pushed the plunger in and that was that.

again, there wasn't enough material to get a buzz, he just wanted to try the proceduce. now the next day there is a big bruise around the site. it doesn't hurt too much or look infected but it is there.

will this go away? should this monkey go to the vet? he thinks it will go away and mabey it just did something weird.

any thoughts would be gretly appreciated because the last thing that is needed is the monkey family finds out his leg fell off due to an infection he neglected to get checked out.

if need be he can snap a pic, but it just looks and feels like a bruise.

You may have caused the vein to burst by possibly pushing the solution into yourself to fast. This usually causes a kind of dull looking bruise. You'll be fine bu if it looks like it gets worse after a few days get it checked out

that is probabily it, it seems to be going away, and the monkey did kind of just pump it in.

also when the monkey was testing to see how he reacts to a needle in his body, he tried on the other foot (just to stick it in) and there is a mark there too, (around the area) not like the other foot, just a little red. possibly just from being pricked?

the one that had been filled with OX/h2o was more red, and 'swollen" but seems to be going down. so your guess is probabily right.

follow up-

the injection site has gone down and is almlst gone, still a tiny bit like a bruise. On the other foot, where the monkey tried to draw blood first is taking a wee bit longer to recover.

is there anything strange a first timer should be worried about?

No do not worry about it dude. If there was a real problem SWIY would know about it. SWIY need to better your technique otherwise SWIY will bruise SWIYself often. Only problem is the only way SWIYcan get the technique right is if SWIY practise.

It should be gone within about 5days. The feet are a hard place to hit anyway though by the way. SWIY are better off trying to hit the veins in the crook of SWIY arm.

Was the solution filtered to get out fillers? Just asking, did not see it mentioned.

Make sure not to "play" with needles and to be very well-read on needle safety and sanitary procedure.

was there a pinching feeling when swiy pushed the plunger? swiy may've hit the vein initially but may've missed the shot.
