Other - help please codeine use

hi
im new to the forum been lurking a while but this is my first post
ive been taking codeine for the last year. i suffer from acute chronic pain and get it prescribed.i also take it recretionally sometimes usually about 350mg.
my doctor has cut my prescription off totally lately and wont give me any.so now apart from the withdrawels im in agony.
ive been using cold water extraction to get a little codeine from over the counter medcine.i have also tried every which way to get heroin but i cant.
but how can i convince my doctor i need the tablets (which i do)

Swiy needs to read the rules about selfincrimination.

If swiys doctor has cut off the supply due to abuse fears then being honest with him is going to be the best plan if the script has simply run its course then tell the doctor swiyou feels like shit?
Other than that a trip to swiys local drug treatment servive may offer some help??
Why can't swiy carry on with the OTC and CWE route?Do the rounds to all the chemists and supermarkets e.t.c 1 packet of co-codamol will contain 256mg of codeine so even if a poorly done CWE yeilds only 200mg that should HELP swiy out a little.
Sorry swim can't give any better advice.....q

Out of interest, did SWIY's doctor prescribe anything as a replacement?

the doctor thinks SWIY's is addicted so cut SWIY's dose down to 20 tablets a month off the 15mg ones and SWIY's not due more pills for weeks.they didnt prescribe anything else to help.SWIY told the doctor the only thing im addicted to is not being in pain, but there not havng none of it.as for the cwe the only pills SWIY's know of containing codeine is neurofen plus which or like £6 a pack.and we havnt got a drug treatment centre anywhere round here.

Swiy wants to go to any high street pharmacy and ask about "co-codamol"..
Is swiy talking about "CODEINE" or "DIHYDROCODEINE"
Look on the bottle/packet label this should tell swiy..

I'm not sure that being honest is the best advice actually. SWIM's boyfriend was in a similar position actually. The doctor thought he was abusing them and slashed his prescription. SWIM's boyfriend denied it categorically. SWIM's boyfriend went back into the doctors and complained strongly (acted quite indignant infact) that he should be accused of any such thing and said he was in extreme pain and that is why he was using more than he should and basically said that he felt the doctor wasn't doing his job properly and was letting him down as a patient in extreme pain.
To further make the doc think he wasn't addicted he said to him that he didn't care if he switched him to something else just so long as it worked. He acted like he didn't have a clue about pain-killers too so he didn't know what other drugs, if anything were out there. SWIY could even say that if the doc didn't help him, SWIY was considering buying illicit drugs (Ie heroin) to deal with the pain. Make sure SWIY says that SWIY is getting nothing in the way of a high/euphoria from the medicine but SWIY just wants something effective for the pain.
At the end of the day if SWIY has a genuine condition that requires pain-relief they will give in and prescribe if SWIY badgers them - just so long as SWIY can convince them that need it for pain and not for getting high.
SWIY could say something like 'I just want this pain to go away. And I don't even like having to take these pills. I'm not happy with taking so much medication but I'm in so much agony and the pills aren't even helping do that properly. I'm only getting mild pain-relief from them. I certainly wouldn't take them otherwise. I don't particularly like them even. Why else would I take them? Please, can't you just help me get rid of this pain. I can't bear any more days like this ... feeling like this' ... or words to that effect.
The way SWIM's partner played it was to keep making appointments (emergency ones too) and to keep going in and basically badgering the doctor. Obviously it depends how good an actor SWIY is but SWIY's boyfriend was in genuine pain at the time and he went in one day virtually in tears cos of the pain and he said to the doctor that if he couldn't get rid of the pain in his leg (he had sciatica) soon then he was gonna do something drastic like cut it badly so as he'd have to go in to hospital and they'd give him something that would work.
SWIY basically has to convince the doc that SWIY's at his wits end with the pain and not even thinking straight cos the agony's so unbearable. SWIY could even try going to a different doctor in the same surgery and breaking down and saying that you're seeing someone else cos your doctor just won't help you and you're desperate to get rid of the pain, BUT SWIM would recommend you stick to the same doc cos doc's don't like to disagree with each-others recommendations, etc.

thanks for the adivice, swim went to the doctor today and got some 30/500's they still think im addictted thugh so only gave me 24 but it is better than nothing.
