Considering GBL/GHB - dangers?

SWIM has just been reading up on GHB/GBL and is very interested. SWIM suffers from anxiety and alcohol reacts badly with her body so this seems perfect for going out on.

The only thing that is worrying SWIM is the risk of overdose. It seems like it's easy to misjudge doses and as SWIM is very thin (7stone) SWIM is worried that even a mild dose would cause adverse reactions.

SWIM is a total newbie so any other general advice would be much appreciated so I can pass it on to her... is there like an online guide that will tell SWIM everything she needs to know?

Re: Considering GBL/GHB - dangers?

Please provide a reference for the comment relating to a small percentage of the population lacking the necessary lactonase enzymes to convert GBL.

The issue of first time GBL users and lactonase enzymes has been covered but I have not come across anything that mentions a total loss of ability to convert GBL in-vivo.

Re: Considering GBL/GHB - dangers?

If swiy is using it to treat for anxiety it is easy to slip into 24/7 dosing which is something that while fun at the time, has a bitch of a withdrawal. Read up on that as it is something that is just as important to understand as how to dose. Theres plenty of threads on this topic.

As for risk of overdosing -- start low and slow. The dose curve is steep, for SWIM (145lbs) 1.5ml of GBL is a small effect, but 2.0ml will produce unconsciousness within 30 minutes. The sweet spot is somewhere in the middle. It's different for everyone.

Complicating matters is that the first time is usually not felt as much, due to enzymes not being produced in quantity (check the wikipedia article on GBL for more info on this).

That being said, as long as you start out low, I would not worry too much about adverse effects on low doses. Make sure you're in a safe area where passing out won't cause you trouble (i.e. not in public, and with people who know what you are doing). If you go a bit over, a 30-40 minute unconsciousness may ensue, of course, but think of it as a nice nap.
I'm still too new here to post the link specifically, but my girlfriend and I operate a blog (thedarkpassenger) that contains a few good GBL entries and some guidelines. It's linked in my profile.

Cheers!

Re: Considering GBL/GHB - dangers?

One other thing, a small percentage of the population lack the necessary lactonase enzymes to convert GBL. In these cases, ingestion of GBL will lead to no intoxication, but bad nausea and vomiting that will manifest itself within a few minutes. SWIY'll know after they try it once. So far, I've only run into one person with this condition though, despite being around fairly widespread GBL use.
