Question Does grapefruit juice potentiate Suboxone for recreational use?

SWIM has some suboxone on their hands and uses .5-1mg to get high off & knows grapfruitjuice potentiates opiates and benzos..But what about suboxone?

Does the nalaxone effect the buprenorphine in suboxone at low doses (.5-10mg) & how would GFJ interact with the nalaxone?

Re: Does GFJ potentiate Suboxone 4 recreational use?

GFJ inhibits CYP3A4 enzymes which are responsible for metabolizing certain drugs including several benzos

Re: Does GFJ potentiate Suboxone 4 recreational use?

Most drugs metabolised by the cytochrome P450 system of liver enzymes are potentiated by GFJ. GFJ inhibits the CYP3A4 enzyme resulting in a diminished first pass metabolism with higher bioavailability and increased maximal plasma concentrations of substrates of this enzyme, especially in certain, if not all, benzodiazepines & some opiates to my knowledge.

Benzos potentiated by GFJ: Alprazolam (xannie), Diazepam (valium), Lorazepam (ativan), clonazepam (klonopin)

Not sure if the list is complete.

Re: Does GFJ potentiate Suboxone 4 recreational use?

Please limit the thread to suboxone , can any1 personally attest to having suboxone being potentiated, 4 recreational use, by anything other than St. John's Wart, specifically Grapefruit Juice?

Yes, buprenorphine is metabolized by cyp3a4 therefore GFJ will further inhibit the metabolism of this already long-lasting drug.

I don't beleive that naloxone is processesed in the same way, but I'm not sure. If taken as directed (sublingually) the naloxone is pretty much rendered ineffective.

Also the bupe has a higher affinity for the mu-receptors than does the nalaxone so (assuming your not all dosed up on other opiates) you probably wont notice the naloxone very much.

Re: Does GFJ potentiate Suboxone 4 recreational use?

w8 hold up so if SWIM crushes and plugs or snorts the suboxone, the nalaxone will block the high? Because SWIM did both ROA and both times was incredably faded although nauseaous; possibly the nalaxone at work?

thanx 4 the reply

Re: Does GFJ potentiate Suboxone 4 recreational use?

A shallow snort should keep the nalaxone out, I dont know about rectal. Swallowing / IV will let the nalaxone in. But from what I understand (and swims experience) the nalaxone isn't very effective at blocking the high, (especially in those without a habit).

So would the nalaxone have been responsible for SWIMs excorcist-style projectile vomiting that preceded their last post? lol

Hell if I know.

Lots of people puke when they take a sizeable dose of a strong narcotic.

True, especially with suboxone, although I wouldnt call SWIMs dose anywhere near sizable, it was more like a spec of dust.

Re: Does grapefruit juice potentiate Suboxone for recreational use?

what probally made u sick is the fact people dont realize since the high is low that bupe(suboxone) is a strong opiate especially if ur not on good size doses of other opiates. but i know Tagament hd works as potentiater on both opiates n benzos

chukbzle added 6 Minutes and 49 Seconds later...

Swim cant seem to get high off em and take 32mgs which is four subs 8mg and it still hurts swim but is WAY more managable also i hear after 4 they work like a ceiling effect. correct if wrong please .its all bout REAL knowledge

"Dont risk your life and OD because u decided to take someone u dont know off the internets advice and try something new. study first .....cuz.. would u like to know the reason for your death was just a stoner makin up a fake recipe that SEEMED legit" GOD BLESS EVERYONE whos died because of these reasons

Re: Does grapefruit juice potentiate Suboxone for recreational use?

So there's ways to prevent the Naloxone from operating when taking Suboxone? I heard a bit back that Naloxone is only in the 8mg tabs, & not in the smaller 2mg tabs, but I believe this to be wrong IMO.

Re: Does grapefruit juice potentiate Suboxone for recreational use?

its a real tiny amount ,ive heard if u dont swallow the last bit of liquid or any at all and i think the naloxone is inactive that way .like so u dont snort shoot or just eat a bunch i thinks its only soluble if its not put under the tongue .i might be wrong but pretty sure
