Other - Make-shift pipe filters?

I was thinking about using tin foil with small holes poked in it, any better advice?

SWIM always used tin foil with holes, it works great. if you suck ash through you can poke holes in two different spots then fold the foil so the holes line up a bit and repeat until your hits are ash free. Also its gets hot fast so don't hold the lighter there too long.

tin foil with holes has always worked fine for SWIM.
even though its advised not to smoke out of tin foil, for health reasons.

Alot of people advise against tin foil as shroomtastic mentions, also much tin foil is now infact aluminium, which SWIM is pretty sure as it oxidises lets of toxic gas potentially down SWIYs down-pipe to their bong and into SWIY.

SWIM is sure he commented on a similar thread a few years ago but cant find it now.
His suggestions were sections cut from a metal kitchen sieve, or a section of the wire mesh sometimes used to cover air vents in walls to stop bugs.
If the paint was removed or burned off, the screen sometimes found covering speakers could also be used

well, first of all, as far as we know, aluminum vapour is relativly harmless except for some irritation. it is non-toxic.

if swiy really want to, he can go to pretty much any head shop and ask for filters. there are glass ones available for a dollar or you can get metal mesh screens which are also cheap as hell....or you can snag one from under a tap in a public bathroom or some shit if you are feeling especially ghetto.
