Packages, Customs, and the Law
Where are international packages checked for contents? As soon as they enter the US?
If there is something not legal in the package, would the govt just notify the person and attempt to get them to claim them, or does it depend on the contents? If the contents are relatively small, nonprofitable, and medicinal but not legally ascribed to the addressee, would the govt somehow try and arrest the addressee? What if the addressee is a totally made up person, in SC USA, but a real person signs for the package...does that imply legal claim and thus ownership of the package? sorry if this violates any forum rules i couldnt find the list of them. thanks. Re: Packages, Customs, and the Law
swidj would suggest that if swiy is worried about the contents..to use a different name..and an address of a vacant home..if no problem the package will arrive..if there is a problem..no way to contact swiy-hope that helps-DJ

Re: Packages, Customs, and the Law
well swim lives in the UK so it's probably a bit different, but swim knows a growshop owner who was raided last monday because a packet of amphetimine was sent to his business and customs picked it up.
However his laywer told him that unless they could find a way to prove he actually ordered it or sent it, it would be near impossible to convict him. But the piggers found cannabis in his house (big surpise). So yeah you might get raided but if they can't prove it was you then they can't do shit in any country. |

Re: Packages, Customs, and the Law
agree with swicannibus..if the package is sent to swiys not recommended, but if it is,swiy should make sure that 1 it's dropped off and left(the cops will try to make a controlled delivery otherwise), never sign for anything and 2, make sure no paper trail can get back to swim...prepaid credit cards are best for this-DJ

Re: Packages, Customs, and the Law
Heres the deal...
SWIM ordered a package sent to SWIM's address but under his fake friend's name, Jamie. SWIM ordered Express delivery for expedited shipping, a crucial mistake. Now, package arrived thru customs, but since SWIM's name does not match Jamie's (tho his addresss does), post office requires Jamie's personal negotiations and ID and most importantly, Self, to appear to retrieve package. Now SWIM has communicated several times with post office, they seem to have become familiar, and therefore POSSIBLY suspicious. Is the PO likely authorized to search said package.....SWIM thinks if they found the illicits then they would make it easier for SWIM to pick up package. They sure are making it hard to get entrapped if that's what they are doing. SWIM has a feeling they aren't though. Back to the point, SWIM is incapable of creating a fake ID, although he designed one before realizing SWIM could not fax in proof of elegilibility for receiving package. SWIM had a hypothetical idea to design some documents with Jamie's name and have friend in NY fax them to PO, but now PO says they onyl acccept faxes like that from other POs. WHat is SWIM to do? Forget about it and let package be returned? Uggggghhhh SWIM hates the postal service......if the person lives AT THE SAME ADDRESS, IN THE SAME APARTMENT, why the FUCK would they be trying to steal a package from a person IN THEIR FUCKING HOUSE goddamnit |

Re: Packages, Customs, and the Law
Swim had a packaged opened by customs containing a white powder AMT which was mislabeled as melatonin. Customs opened the package and let it through, they didnt even check the contents which was sealed in a silvery electronics type baggy.
Swim thinks that was weird and lucky, Swims thinks it all random the way they check the mail. Though swim dosent understand how they didnt check the white powder, it could of been anything. |
