Cloud Nine?

hey guys this is my first post, ive read the rules and i will try to adhere to them as much as possible so if i do make mistakes please help me correct them.

A friend of mine has been taking E for almost 2 years now. he does it very occasionally (once every 2 or 3 months). he thinks of it as an amazing spiritual experience and his main goal is to get the best experience with the most effect (he likes to go all the way when he does it cuz he doesnt do it a lot).

He has learned a lot of cool tricks to enhance the experience and to intensify it. some of which are vicks, steam rooms, light shows, messages, etc

a new trick he learned about 6 months ago is the best so far. he says it is so intense that it feels like he is born again with amazing euphoria, not to mention that it makes his role kick back again like crazy even after starting to come down. The trick involves sitting down with the upright back, relaxing, playing his favorite music then starting to take long, fast deep breaths (hyperventilating). Then when he starts to feel a little dizzy he applies pressure on the sides of his neck with his palms to hold blood up in his head. Next thing he knows he wakes up after passing out for maybe 10 seconds which feel like a year of climax and absolute please and losing touch with reality. sometimes if he has other friends to help him he will ask them to give him a light show as he wakes up.

now here's the problem, in the first second or two after he wakes up he would have his body twitching like he's having a seizure. after that everything is just great.

his own humble scientific explanation is that what happens is that he is holding a big amount of highly oxygenated into his brain, causing some sort of extreme "high" that is so overwhelming that it causes him to pass out and lose his senses for a short while.

what he cant understand is why does this make his body twitch? how harmful is this trick? is it something that he needs to stop doing?

he tried looking all over the net trying to find any explanation with no luck, the closest thing he found was a random post saying that it's called "cloud nine". he's not sure though because he knows that the more popular trick of cloud nine is when when he has someone carrying him and walking around and all that good stuff.

please help me i dont want my friend to be in danger or to be hurting brain badly by doing this.

Re: cloud nine?

The reason your friend is passing out is because of a lack of oxygen to the brain. Your friend must stop doing this immediately because he risks serious brain damage. Swim is trying to imagine exactly how your friend does this and it does not look clever; exerting pressure on the neck/throat and breathing quickly? No, sounds like a recipe for disaster, it's no wonder your friend passes out after doing this.

Have a look at these two links and read through them carefully.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fainting
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-epileptic_seizure

Swim's best advise is, although this "trick" that your friend does apparently gives him ultimate euphoria, he should stop practicing it immediately.

Holy crap. say no more guys. My friend did some reading in the right place and realized he has (by far) been doing the most stupid thing he's ever done in his life. He can't believe how stupid he is. Thank God he's alive and thank god for these forums

Re: cloud nine?

This post isn't meant as an attack but rather an explanation of the human body as a result of finding human physiology really cool

hyperventilation is actually harmful because it expels too much carbon dioxide from the blood. Acually, all breathing patterns are determined by the level of carbon dioxide in the blood, never the need for increased oxygen supply (counterintuitive isn't it?) When you expel too much carbon dioxide, you raise the pH of the blood. This causes blood vessels to constrict on a large scale resulting in the tingliness, black outs, loss of vision, loss of motor function, etc, that comes with hyperventilating. The blood vessel constriction also prevents certain electrolytes from getting to the brain which are necessary for function--adding to the blood constriction.

Re: cloud nine?

Glad you have seen the truth lol. On a side note, i read in the paper a few months back about kids doing this to each other. Kids about 14 or 15 would get their friend to literately strangle them until they passed out, when they came to they felt fuzzy and euphoric. I cant remember what these kids called it but it is extremely bad (as you just read). One kid in england i think it was, a 14 year old, was found dead in his room with a belt around his throat, later investigation found that he was trying to do this trick to himself.

Shit hey, nah i didnt hear about that, i blame it on the government, making it a lot harder to get weed. I know a few young people that inhaled glue/butane etc, i told them they were fuck heads and idiots. If kids want to get high, they will do it, even if it involves this bullshit. Another reason to legalize weed and drugs in general.

Sorry to derail but this is an interesting topic

it really is. my friend feels like such an idiot because he has heard about this "choking game" before bet never made the connection.
This reminds me of the south park episode where the kids were getting high off of cat pee haha

i guess what happens with the trick while rolling is just a crazy intensifying of that euphoric feeling. my friend still wonders though why this kicks his role back in as if he just got off of a peak even after starting to come down.... who knows, the human brain is such a crazy thing
