Growing Canabis (in Canada)
I realize the laws are a LOT more understandable on this topic than in USA....but I haven't been able to find a solid answer..
If someone were to grow say from 3-5 marijuana plants for personal use (indoor) and assuring there are no scales/dime bags laying around or anything else that may lead anyone to believe they were trafficking. What would be their penalty, for the rare chance that they would have a warrant to search their home.. Just for interest's sake ![]() Thanks a lot Last edited by Pondlife; 20-11-2008 at 10:01. Then again, 3-5 plants may possibly be argued as "personal use", depending on the amount of marijuana produced, but I don't know for sure. For all I know 3-5 plants, if found to be for "personal use", may only warrant a fine. |

Re: Growing Canabis (in Canada)
Forgot about the self incrimination
My bad.Thankyou for your reply. My friend would be growing it for his own personal use, so I would think it would be a fine. To my knowledge he is not planning to distribute it whatsoever. He has told me that for his uses of cannabis, he does not think he would be able to obtain a license to possess it. As he uses it to cope with day to day stresses and to relax from long days of work or strenuous activity. |

I'm thinking 3-5 marijuana plants in the grand scheme of things is quite minor considering the much, much larger grow operations set up by organized crime rings throughout Canada that are probably the sole focus of police. If this person were caught with 3-5 marijuana plants, it is my personal opinion (not fact) that he/she could argue personal use. I think it may also depend on the amount of marijuana that these plants produce. If it is reasonable to believe that the amount could be deemed for personal use, then the penalty could be as little as a fine. I'm sorry that I am not able to find a rock-solid answer to your question. Hopefully someone will be able to provide one in the near future. |

Well would it not depend on the province? I mean I thought that BC was more permissive than Ontario. I could be totally wrong but it is just what I have been told.

Re: Growing Canabis (in Canada)
I've heard cases where people are charged for every gram that the plant is expected to yield, and im Canadian. I think its a matter of luck.
