Effects - amphetamine vs dextroamphetamine (dexetrine)

Swim on occasion takes adderall for study purposes. Today swim didn't have any adderall but came across an ADD medication called vyvanse, which he believes is a dextroamphetamine, (lisdexamfetamine dimesylate to be exact), compared the adderall which is a mixture of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine salts if he is not mistaking. swim feels a bit more jittery than when on adderall. still very focsed on getting things done, but his mind seems to be jumping from task to task. Swim is wondering what the different effects are between taking adderall, (amphetamine/dextroamphetamine mixture), and vyvance, (just dextroamphetamine). is one more effective or more potent than the other? any other information on the topic would be appreciated.

adderal is a racenemic mixture of two salts of amphetamine, meaning it has equal concentrations of stereoisomers. amphetamine features a chiral carbon, having 2 sterioisomers. Detroamphetamine is the right oriented isomer. It is said to produce more psychological effects, where as the levo isomer produces more peripheral effects. One would say the vynase is probably a good choice if availible. try the same miligram dossage that one would take of adderall

Vyvanse(lisdexamphetamine) does use the more active isomer of amphetamine as its main ingredient, but it must first be metabolized in the GI tract before can be broken down into dextroamphetamine.

The manufacturer, Shire, did this to curb abuse because snorting or injecting will not have any effect. Shire also put Vyvanse up as their new flagship product since Adderall XR is almost ready to become a generic.

SWIM used Adderall XR 20mg daily for a while, but recently switched to 5mg x 3 times daily of Dexedrine and he prefers it much more due to the more fitting dosing in his strange schedule and less over-stimulation due to Dexedrine being pure dextroamphetamine without the levoamphetamine added.

ok, so beavis misunderstood. He recived several 30 mg dexedrine from butthead and some how it was confused that these were vynanse. Beavis has injested some vyvanse and is definitly understanding this is NOT dexedrine, dextro-amphetamine salts. What vynanse is is a pro-drug, meaning it is the phenethylamine molecule bonded to an aminoaicd, and this amino acid is cleaved by digestion. Snorting this drug is there for pointless, but there should be a good way to easily cleave the bond. using simple reagents, but this is not the topic of discusion.

vyvanse dose would probably be 3/1 over dex-Amp don't really know how it compares to racenemic-amp salts tho

Swim used to take 2 x 20mg Adderall XR daily.
Swim then changed to 1 x 50mg Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) daily.
Swim raised again to 1 x 70mg Vyvanse daily.
Swim is currently taking 1 x 50mg Vyvanse and 1x10mg generic Adderall IR daily.

Adderall pill sizes range from 5mg to 30mg, while Vyvanse pill sizes range from 20mg to 70mg.

According to swims doctor, Vyvanse takes about twice the milligrams as Adderall to work.

Swim thinks you might need more than twice the Vyvanse to compared to Adderall, if you look at the pill sizes, you will notice that the lowest dose of Vyvanse is 20mg, vs 5mg of Adderall; that's 4 times more Vyvanse required for minimum strength. The highest sizes are; 70mg for Vyvanse, 30mg for Adderall (2.33% difference), which can translate to:

Adderall is about 2-4 times as efficient/powerful for each milligram compared to Vyvanse.
