Snorting: How much in the nose, and how much in the lungs?
I've heard some people say that no material goes into you lungs when you snort something, but I find this hard to believe as when people snort that is where all the air ends up afterall. I expect that many factors will effect this, how hard you snort, how clear your nose is, how fine the powder is, etc.
Anyone know if this has been studied at all? or if there are publications that have measured percentages? |

Re: Snorting: How much in the nose, and how much in the lungs?
SWIM can testify that some does go in your lungs from personal experience.
SWIM back when he was only snorting heroin, ended up with a REALLY bad problem for a while. Some of the shit was getting into his lungs, and he was highly allergic to whatever the cut was. Of course he wasn't stopping, so for about 2 weeks he could barely move 10 feet without becoming completely exhausted. His breaths were really shallow and wheezy, and he was constantly coughing shit up. That was during the worst, but he had lung problems for about 3 months. He went to some clinic, and the doc said his blood oxygen level was really low from it. He had actually told them about his heroin use, but they didn't even think it was that and gave him some anti allergin rx and antibiotics. SWIM knows it was that, because the exact same thing happened to his brother, who went to this doctor that said he sees that all the time in heroin addicts. It was probably because SWIM's tolerance was at his highest and he was needing to snort so much powder every day. SWIM solved it by switching over to injecting.

Quote:
so in conclusion.. swim believes he has permenantlly damaged his respiratory system slightlly and says yes residue from snorting things can indeed wind up in swiys lungs but this is based purelly on swim and other swimmers anecdotal evidence |

Yeah, SWIY will physically feel it if SWIY inhales deep enough for matter to go into the lungs since the tissue there is so sensitive and thin.

The best way to avoid getting powder in your lungs is to snort barely hard enough to get the powder off the table. This make it so most or all of the powder becomes stuck in the mucus lining of your nose and/or sinus. Then when it dissolves you can hawk it back into your throat and taste the beautiful drip

Re: Snorting: How much in the nose, and how much in the lungs?
Thought about this the other day, as my mate snorted some MDMA really hard up his nose and got a really bad instant sting in his lungs. It was burning him for about an hour, and in a very specific spot. I cant imagine that strong chems like MDMA burning away at your lungs can prove healthy. Lung tissue doesn't repair very well does it?
I bet there's a corelation between the strength people snort, the fineness of the powder, and the chances of them getting a bad lung condition or lung cancer. |

Re: Snorting: How much in the nose, and how much in the lungs?
Swim agrees that some goes into the lungs. When swim snorts the yellow percs he can blow a yellow cloud out of his mouth with the first big exhale after the line is done. This would conclude that the powder went up his nose, into his lungs, and back out his mouth right?!?!
