Purity - Extracting Amphetamine out of relatin?

Hey,

Is there a way to extract amphetamines out of concentration pills like relatin/concerta?

I think it might be possible by doing an acetone wash? Like with cocaine or ecstasy (getting the MDMA out)

Or will you lose some of the amphetamine?

Now, is this soluble in acetone?

BIG DIFFERENCE between the HCl salt and the freebase form, if you're dealing with Ritalin (or generic form) this is Methylphenidate HCl, and we will procees as that..
1) Crush up your pills or even Concerta (sp?) time-release as fine as you can, it's best to work with a fair amount of these as it's pointless to bother with only a few mg's .. once you have all yer shit crushed put it in a flask, now, abut 30 minutes prior to this you will have put a bottle of AT LEAST 70% isopropyl alcohol (aka "rubbing alcohol" - cost like $.25 for a pint) in the fridge - we want it chilled, not freezing, but well blow room temperature ..
2) Pour your chilled alcohol into the flask and "swirl" it around for a minute or so.. the idea is that the methylphenidate is REALLY soluble in alcohol - while it's not freely soluble in >70% isopropyl alcohol, it's the best solvent for out purpose .. now because the methylphenidate is disolved in the IPA, we will need to setup a filter...
3) Take a glass jar and cover the mouth of it with 3 coffee filters, you can secure them with a rubber-band ... now you will pour the IPA through the filter .. you will have the filters on top with some crap thenyou will have the alcohol in the jar...
4) Pour the IPA into a pyrex dish - it will evaporate rather quickly but if you want you could put it under a heatlamp to speedup the process .. you should have some crystals - this is your methylphenidate along with a few other things.. you can either rail it right now or move on to the next step ..
5) You MIGHT lose some of the methylphenidatem so personally if you're yeilds look alright at the end of #4, I would just rail that and forget this... anyway, for this we are using Methanol for this, and it can be obtained at your local hardware store (read the cans) .. if you can't find it you can buy it with no restrictions .. we are going to basically do the same thing we did with the alcohol but lets drop the temperature a little more this time... so scrape yer crystals into a flask (or Snapple bottle) and add some ice-cold methanol - you can get a little more agressive in your mixing this time ..
Repeat steps #3 and #4 .. you should have a white, crystline substance - this, in theory is Methylphenidate HCl .. a quick practice run gave shitty yeilds (about 60% provided our extract was deviod of anything other then Methylphenidate HCl) ..

swim started this over at his foster parents house last night and left it out over night to evaporate, if it turns out well swim is considering doing step 5... swims going to see his PO then is going to check out the results. swim took pics of steps 1-4 and will have pics of the finished results when swim gets home. peace guys!

By testing, SWIM found out that:
A relatin 10mg methylphenidate hydrochloride:
Is not completely soluble in water, with that SWIM means, that there are allot of fillers that do not dissolve.

Now he also found this on the web:
Methylphenidate is soluble in water.

Also found this:
The solubility of methylphenidate hydrochloride in unbuffered aqueous solution at 32°C was found to be 191±6 mg/ml

But SWIM doesn't believe thet 191 mg/ml thing?

Can someone backup that?

Because if it is that soluble, he would put 20 pills in a little bit of water, about 5ml. filter the binders out. And then put the filtered water it in a nasal spray container.
