Mosquito bite?

Swim just shot up and after swim was done it looks like theres a mosquito bite where he shot. Blood registered when swim shot and he got the usual rush, can swiy give swim some insight on what this might be. It doesn't hurt at all when swim touches it and swim is fairly new to shooting. Swim would really like to know what this is.

t104 added 21 Minutes and 7 Seconds later...

Swim also wants to know if its ok to use the same needle for about 4-5 times. Swims used the same one for about that many times and after hes done he always fills it up with water and rinses it out and does that 3-4 times. Is that ok or what can happen?

Re: Mosquito bite?

a mosqutio bite like mark in the are where swiy shot up... sounds like the spot where the needle went in, this question acctually really confuses swim....

also its only okay to use a needle that many times if swiy really wants to destroy his veins quick

Re: Mosquito bite?

SWIY blew part of the shot probably - meaning not all went into the vein, and some went into a little bubble under the skin.

Either that, or if its a different kind of dope you aren't used to shooting or cut with something different SWIY might have some kind of skin irritation.

Re: Mosquito bite?

Red Rock has gotten these before and most of the time, its from missing a small part of the shot. When this happens, a small bump will appear as well but will go away in an hour or so. Also, when he was re-using dull needles, this would happen occasionally.

Re: Mosquito bite?

Yeah this has happened to swim with dull needles...I think they irritate the skin sort of.

Also, if you're going to use needles that many times you should probably at least rinse them with peroxide and not just water

Swim just did it again but this time after swim shot he noticed the blood dripping out was unusually darker red almost blackish blood. How would swim go about washing them with peroxide???

Re: Mosquito bite?

Black blood might mean you sort of have a bruise or a clot, probably not big deal just a little subcutaneous damage from dull needles. Try to use other veins until that spot clears up completely cause swiy doesn't want to get an infection.

As for cleaning with peroxide, if the plunger on swiy's set comes all the way out, take it out and clean the rubbery part with it, then soak the part attached to the needle for five to ten minutes, then rinse that off with water. I've heard bleach works too but that it will eventually corrode the needle and also something about how it can't get into all the holes..? Not sure about that one but just be careful. ESPECIALLY if swiy share needles (which no one should really never do), make sure to clean them this way. It won't eliminate the chances of disease but it will lesson them.

Re: Mosquito bite?

Thanks for the info, yeah swim never shares needles but swim has one more question, he noticed kinda like a rough patch of skin around the area where he shoots. Do you know what this could be, swims guessing its probably just what you said in the post before but just wants to make sure.

More irritation/skin reaction I'd guess. Or maybe you are itching it either consciously or subconsciously while you are nodding.

Since SWIY said you are newer to IVing, SWIM isn't sure if this could be it, but SWIM has blown a couple shots bad before and gets severe roughness/callouses/perpetual peeling around the area. When this happens and the sore gets really nasty and opens up, then closes and heals and flakes off for months - SWIM has a theory. For example, SWIM blew a shot in his palm. It took it months for it to close fully and not be a scab. The whole area is a small lump of hard flakey /scaley skin / callous that constantly flakes off in the center were the scab was. This was also an old vein that scabified and that SWIM cut out. SWIM has a couple other wounds like this, mostly on his hands and feet. SWIM thinks that because of the vein damage, not much (or not enough) blood/oxygen/nutritents gets to this area, and it kind of dies off into callous/flakes.
