Opinions - Extracting Codeine from Syrup

I was curious if you could extract Codeine from the Syrup?
The Syrup i have is APAP/Codeine cheapo stuff.
I was looking to getting my codeine into just a powder if possible.

No, Swim's not aware of any method to extract codeine from syrup, but if you can't extract from syrup why don't you just get some OTC cocodamol pills?If you have them available OTC that is.

Now swim ain't no chemist,so this info could be wrong?But working from a very sleepy memory ~ It may be poss to extract the codeine with an "Acid-based extraction".This is slightly more complicated than doing a C.W.E and does require swiy to obtain and use a number of chemicals.
There is a good-simple to follow example of this in the "DXM" forum,in the "Extracting DXM" thread posted by pungshed swim thinks?
Again swi-q must stress that this method may or may not work for Codeine in cough suryp,Hopefully a slightly more clued up swimmer will post and give swiy a more informed answer??
Swim would second swiRobo's post regarding otc tablets-If this an option for swi-Talynt?

Yeah john-q you're absolutely right.An acid-base extraction can be used to extract any alkaloid from a solution and codeine is no exeption.But I think Talynt is looking for something more simple than that, seems like a acid-base extraction would be a bit too complicated for his purpose.

swim also needs this info cause he told me that he has some syrup with codeine at home and would like to extract it .. its not possible for him to buy anything else cause he lives in a shit country and doesn't know any doctors that could get him the capsules .. swim thinks it may be possible to let all the codeine turn into vapour catch it and cool it down? or is the evaporising point of the substances to near?

The boiling point of codeine is to high for it to be done practically and without loss of most of the codeine. The acid base reaction would work well and if you used gasoline as a nonpolar solvent you could let it evaporate for a (if you do it well) semi-crystalline substance
