Smoking - Smoking and adderall?

Swim told me that he can't stop smoking on adderall. Normally, he would smoke maybe...one cigarette every few months for the hell of it. He never made a habit out of it. But God damn, last time he did adderall, he made smoking into one hell of an addiction. He went from a couple cigarettes a day to a couple packs. Then when he came down, he started smoking even more. Maybe it was to bring up the dopamine levels in his brain or something? Now he doesn't smoke again. But he is definitely going to buy a few packs of Djarum Blacks on his next binge.

Any explanation on why this is? Maybe it has something to do with the relationship between smoking and ADHD? Or maybe dopamine plays a role in this? Or could it just be the impulsivity people get on adderall and the need to do things?

(And please pray for swim's drug test to hurry up so he can go on another addy spree ^_^ )

Hey 100mg,

SWIM used to smoke a few ciggs a week until he started his amphetamine prescription. Now SWIM is up to 5+ ciggs a day. SWIM smokes cigarettes because they calm him down; so it makes sense to SWIM that he enjoys the calming sensation of nicotine when his body is kind of tweaking.

By the way, SWIM loves Djarum Blacks even though he can only indulge in them every once in a while because of their strong taste. They actually have more nicotine than most other cigarettes so you might want to keep that in mind.

Haha. Swim went on a big binge. 220mg in 16 hours or less. After that, he hasn't been able to quit smoking. =/

Swim and his friends all smoke more on Adderall, especially during finals week. Swim notices that he can take much larger drags on Adderall and always attributed it to Adderall's bronchial dilation, though swim isn't positive on that. Does anyone know any scientific reasoning for swiy wanting to smoke more while on uppers?

No idea how this scientifically works, but according to Swim's physician as long as you are constantly taking Aderall, there is an increased chance for people to become addicted to different things. A couple of examples were food, alcohol, cigarettes, and illegal drugs. Swim has been smoking for a few years now so I haven't noticed any change, just something for the rest of yas to look up maybe.

SWIM found himself in the exact same situation SWIY did. By using cigarettes to help cool down during cocaine crashes, made SWIM very much hooked on the little shits.

Funny... SWIM is opposite. He usually eats his script of 60 x 30mg Adderall IR withen a week or two (he is a heavy smoker), and while he's on it, he doesn't smoke hardly at all. When its back to downers / nothing... Back to the cigs.

Likewise. Lose almost all desire to smoke while taking Adderall.

SWIM smokes a lot more when she takes her full RX'd dose of Adderall. She says they taste better and feel a lot smoother. She's also read a lot about it on Erowid and it seems to be a common occurrence. If she remembers she will ask her prescribing doctor why that is when she sees him in 2 weeks.
