Re: What is the LONGEST time you have gone without sleep

It should also be noted that after this binge swim experienced some moderate to severe chest pains...Swim actually considered a trip to the emergency room. The whole experience was rather unpleasant, but swim's time with these stims is not over... He is still a regular user, but now swim obeys his body's limits.

Re: What is the LONGEST time you have gone without sleep

Hi All,
A story for you...

At some point SWIM took GBL to the point of g-ing out 4 days in a row after doing GBL for a week straight on and off. Sleep over the week had become harder and harder to get into, and then one night something broke. SWIM, wanting to get some real sleep, stopped taking GBL, or ran out, SWIM does not remember. SWIM not only could not sleep, but felt as if he had forgotten how to sleep, there was no ideation of being tired or consideration or rememberance of what it was like to sleep. The feeling of being tired did not exist. As SWIM was living on the strip in Vegas at the time SWIM was easily able to entertain SWIM's self between night and day and SWIM was used to weird hours. SWIM ended up being awake for 9 days without even feeling tired, and SWIM had no hallucinations, but was feeling anxious and a bit paranoid. SWIM ate and drank normally so SWIM, aside from SWIM's body being dead tired, felt relatively okay. On day 10 SWIM attempted to take tylenol PM to go to sleep, SWIM only ended up having extremely insane, violent, scary open eye hallucinations for a few hours. SWIM actually asked SWIM's roommate to take SWIM to the ER or doctor but roommate who has more experience than SWIM told SWIM to wait it out. SWIM started having extreme hallucinations with some psychosis and still could not sleep. SWIM had visual, auditory, and tactile hallucinations and SWIM felt like SWIM was losing SWIM's mind. SWIM at one point felt hundreds of hands touching SWIM from all directions and pulling at SWIM. SWIM spent the next 24 hours rocking back and forth in a ball and avoiding all sensory input so SWIM's hallucinations had no sensory expectations to work with. SWIM eventually fell asleep seeing all kinds of cartoons and having "fits" of sleep coupled with the most fucked up dreams SWIM has ever had. The next day SWIM felt extreme euphoria and happiness for no good reason, and slept normally but was still afraid of reality so to speak. The following day SWIM was perfectly fine with nothing strange at all. SWIM thinks that SWIM went into acute GBL withdrawals. SWIM never wants to do that again but SWIM was awake for 12 days total with nothing but GBL. SWIM now hits the meth pipe almost daily but SWIM sleeps at least 4-5 hours per night and SWIM is fine. SWIM only has trouble with that when SWIM goes to a girlfriend's house and does a bunch of lines and stays up all night having insane sex then leaves and spends the next day tweaking. GBL is still SWIM's drug of choice.

Sooo... SWIY broke Gardners world record (260 hours~ 11 days), which was monitered by W.Demet (A sleep scientist): Because 1.You took a drug that inhibits the sleep cycle (Fair enough), and then stopped, but felt you couldnt get to sleep...
And SWIY's recovery? -It seems to have been your typical 8-10 hours?, this is impossible, it takes around at least 2-3 days for your circadian rhythm in terms of sleep/wake to be re-established, and for full recovery (body and brain) to occur

Sorry if SWIM doesnt follow SWIY but.. yeah

SWIM did not just start a normal circadian rhythm immediately, no, SWIM spent the next 4 days between sleeping and eating, watching movies and resting before SWIM felt normalized enough to function again. What SWIM meant was that SWIM could not sleep for 8 hours straight for a long time after the GBL induced psychosis incident. SWIM does not know why the drug had this effect on SWIM. SWIM also realized after the incident how messed up SWIM's view of reality was in the mean time. SWIM started becoming very emotional and at some points felt euphoric, or felt like crying, or felt like the world was ending. SWIM was also having delusions of grandeur and delusions of persecution. SWIM actually enjoyed the experience in hindsight because it brought perspective to many things in SWIM's life. GBL withdrawal induced psychosis is well documented. SWIM has no reason to make this story up. GBL is still SWIM's drug of choice.

chaosbydesign added 8 Minutes and 4 Seconds later...

This is the website SWIM found on day 10 of SWIM's experience that explained in great detail what SWIM was experiencing.
psy.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/full/42/1/83

SWIM did not have any signs of psychosis or schizophrenia until SWIM had been awake 10 days. SWIM began to hear the singing voice of Susan Boyle from america's got talent very very clearly and loudly in the shower external to SWIM. SWIM also heard this voice talking nonsense but nonsense vaguely related to whatever SWIM was doing. The most interesting part was that SWIM was not fighting the urge to sleep, SWIM felt no want or need to sleep, SWIM would lay down and rest SWIM's body and stare at the ceiling and begin to scare SWIM's self in SWIM's own head with the hallucination's SWIM was experiencing, so SWIM decided to simply entertain SWIM's self until SWIM could finally sleep.

Re: What is the LONGEST time you have gone without sleep

SWIY should try next time he is "up" is chek his blood pressure. SWIM did and noticed it was DANGEROUSLY high. This was a long time ago but don't be afraid to check pressure. A stroke or heart attack is not uncommon especially while using coke. They say "OD" when one is using coke and dies but they have more than likely done some damage to their cardiovascular system. SWIM knew a surgeon buddy up north and he said it was plain as day who had used STIMS and who hadn't just by looking at the stretch patterns on the striations of their heart muscles.

Re: What is the LONGEST time you have gone without sleep

That is very interesting, my cat says he would hate for anyone to look at his heart's stretch patterns. \

Swim's chest pains persisted for three days after he had even got sleep, but each day the pain lessened considerably. Since then swim's cardiovascular integrity seems to be fine, and doesn't expect the damage done to have been too severe. He notes that he now carries a regular heartbeat, and hasn't encountered the same pain since.

This experience scared the shit out of swim, and he (as well as my cat) urge everyone to take great care and responsibility when using these powerful stimulants.

Damn, swim thought being awake for just over 3 days was a lot, as soon as he read 14 his jaw dropped!
swin -needs- his sleep, he only needs to sleep for about 5 hours a night and can easily stay awake through a whole night if he needs but after one night of no sleep the only thing on swim's mind on that evening is rest!

SWIM has only stayed up for a few days. He thinks his record was around 4 days w/the use of caffiene. If he remembers correctly, on the final night before he crashed he drank 36 cans of mountain dew. Halo and junk food...

16 days, dammmmmnn.

Re: What is the LONGEST time you have gone without sleep

swim is happy he found this thread b/c he is dealing with some sleep deprivation psychosis right now. It all started for him about 4 or 5 days ago w/ the purchase of some cocaine. Cocaine, ritalin, and alcohol fueled a couple of sleepless nights or night w/ 30 min to 60min at best. Swim sometimes uses benadryl to get to sleep but he hates taking any sleep meds after using cocaine. Swim bought some heroin yesterday and smoked a fair amount last night. Today swim is completely out of it and he needs to sober up. He took 2 benadryl and thinks that is currently adding to his psychosis. Main reason can't sleep right now is b/c bad, kinked, neck pain.
Anyone have any thoughts (other than go to bed) because I've tried that and getting to sleep isn't easy w/ this neck pain.
Swim is afraid of falling asleep and not waking up ever again because of all the drugs taken over the last5 days. Swim lives byhimself so doesn't have a sitter to make sure he doesn't fall asleep and pull a jimi hendrix. Swim has become pretty paranoid.

Just put some relaxing music on and remember that sleeping is what is going to make you better, if anything you should be afraid of staying awake not falling asleep. Sleeping lets you immune system focus on what it has to sort out, have a shower and a cup of walm milk and get some sleep mate. Its also advisable to not sleep for more than 12 hours, anything over this will start to make you feel tired next day no matter how much more you sleep.

I wonder if he ever got to sleep? that would be ten days or so now. he never posted back. Maybe he ended up like this: The man who never slept.

Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) is probably going to add to the delierium SWIY is experienced from being sleep deprived. Give it a miss. It is a delieriant antihistamine.

Re: What is the LONGEST time you have gone without sleep

I found this on wiki very interesting:
Studies investigating the effects of Active Sleep deprivation have shown that deprivation early in life can result in behavioral problems, permanent sleep disruption, decreased brain mass,[11] and result in an abnormal amount of neuronal cell death.[12] Further supporting this theory is the fact that the amount of REM sleep in humans decreases with age, as well as data from other species.
SWIM thinks he has permanent brain damage from taking methastone for 9 months. SWIM believes it has permanently altered his brain chemistry to keep him from being able to sleep properly.

Re: What is the LONGEST time you have gone without sleep

kstyle1733 - if you can get some marijuanna or even simply some OTC sleeping pills, this could be a good start for you. You need to introduce some depressants, but something with a little less kick than H, that's just adding fuel to the fire.
I'd suggest if all you can obtain is some OTC sleeping pills (they also have them for pain, to help w/your neck irritation) I suggest starting with 50-75mg (usually 25mg pills) and waiting an hour, if that is not enough, take no more than up to 125mg at the most.

SWIM has only stayed up for about 3 days, luckily SWIM knows how to introduce depressants after a good Ice binge. SWIM tends to smoke in tandem, so there's the tweak, but with a little background of chill, makes coming down much more pleasant.

kstyle1733, I disagree with SmokeBomb, more drugs?? Opiates especially... You WILL no doubt pay later for partaking in that arena.. SWIM used to be a semi-pro MMA kickboxer. SWIMs neck, back, knees, jaw and elbows have been shattered or are trashed. SWIM has been prescribed EVERYTHING and ANYHTING he wanted and is now drug free. He got the most relief on his neck from a very good chiropractor!

SWIM once stayed awake for 3 days because the first night he went to a party and did lots of MDMA and weed, stayed up that night, then the next day he did LSD and didnt sleep, he felt rotten the next day but had to be awake so he got home at about 10 and went to bed after ordering a pizza.

SWIM has discovered Seroquil "Quiterpine" or some shit like that. It makes SWIM's dream state feel almost high. Swim knows he's in full REM 4 because he can do the superman flying thing at will.
Does anyone else experience "flying" while in your dreams?????

I often get a false type of flying, its much more like very low gravity where I can do huge jumps and various wicked moves. For some reason I've never been able to *fully* just fly wherever I want to, there always seems to be limitations on it. Very annoying. I'm waiting for a lucid dream where I remember to fly and then can go and do whatever I want, and then it will be wicked.

I've had dreams like this as well. Some of my dreams of this type have been fabulous. The sense is amazingly liberating and powerful, but always strangely restricted. Occasionally they have been disturbing, for instance the time I had this flying ability and was using it in the brutal murders of my friends and housemates. Sometimes it's more like "well of course I can just glide around and take tremendous bounds," that's just a normal part of how it is.

Re: What is the LONGEST time you have gone without sleep

well it may not be fair because i have sleep and mental problems, but i'm going on 14 days now.

Does anyone else experience "flying" while in your dreams?????
as for this... i don't experience it while asleep, but i have vivid hallucinations when i "wake up". i put it in quotations because i don't know if it would be considered awake or not. i feel completely awake and am able to control my body, but i see other people that aren't there and feel i have super human power. i have NO sense of reality at all during these times, it's quite dangerous really.
also, i am not abusing any form of drug, and currently am not on any prescription meds due to my lack of money.

Re: What is the LONGEST time you have gone without sleep

Swim didn't think it was humanly possible to go 14 days. Swim feels like a pussy in comparison if he goes above 3 days he starts having dreams while he's still awake and it fascinates him because sometimes he's almost sure he was fully conscious the whole time but somehow new dreams start coming in.

Swim also starts hallucinating heavily after 3 days and he goes into a mad world of his own for example he one day he was having a conversation with a voice in his head then all of a sudden he gets a full blown visual hallucination he sees (AND HEARS) this thing flapping well more like vibrating it was just like a dragonflies wings actually you know when they flap so fast you can only see a sorta transparent trail and you can hear that papery sound. Well swim went in for a closer inspection then the thing stopped moving and guess what it was. A piece of cellophane straw wrapper you know that thin plastic on cigarette boxes. Swim was completely fascinated by this and as soon as he started pondering what was going on a voice in his head says "this is a parallel universe" and swim rather than putting it down to hallucinations actually found that as a good explanation and was so fascinated by the concept decided to go outside and see what its like outside in a parallel universe. Nothing too bizarre unfortunately but it was interesting shit the way that cellophane wrapper started flapping.

Swiy went 17 days without sleep and only experienced mild visuals? Was swiy taking vitamins and keeping his body nourished? Swim went just over 3 days and was hallucinating heavily. He saw tables shaking, footprints on the walls, he actually saw a piece of plastic flapping like insect wings. He had conversations with voices in his head.

Swim had been taking ridiculously high doses of meth, drinking like a fish, smoking joints and taking opiates though. He also didn't bother forcing himself to eat and wasn't keeping himself hydrated. He noticed that when he went 2 days without sleep but kept himself hydrated he had no hallucinations (apart from seeing those little shadow balls flying around). Swim has a highly active imagination though and he has mild visual hallucinations all day every day even when he's stone sober. Its an asset because it livens up his visual field. Swim was nearly shocked the first time he described the effects weed has on him but none of his friends could relate. When swim gets stoned his imagination gets so vivid he can literally see pictures of what he's thinking about on the walls around him. You know the bit in fear and loathing in Las Vegas where hes watching TV and all the static spreads to the walls. That happens to swim when he smokes weed. Never happens on shrooms or acid though funnily enough.

The 'tremendous bounds' happens many times. Flying has been always a bit of a task, but I used to get pretty high by imagining that the earth goes away from me, rather than trying to move myself. I also imagine the feeling of dizziness from the height I gain. Sometimes even saw a dream where I flew too high and got lost far, far in space in midst of other suns, black holes and all of them started to feel deadly and frightening. You wouldn't want to get sucked in black hole.
