can one smoke powder cocaine ?

Can anyone provide some evidence that Cocaine HCl is destroyed by pyrolysis and not psychoactive when smoked? I know that this seems to be the consensus, and I do not disagree, I am simply looking for some experimental information.

I have check the MSDS, which lists the boiling point. It also details that the rate of degradation is increased under exposure to heat. I am however having trouble finding any solid source which confirms that Cocaine HCl is destroyed by heat and does not enter the bloodstream in a psychoactive form.

Your help and resources are greatly appreciated. In the spirit of information, evidence is always key.

"The surface chemistry of contraband drugs is very important in many detection techniques. It is also important in choosing materials for sampling and sample handling. The chemical nature of surfaces may facilitate drug decomposition or serve to stabilize the drugs. We have developed a simple technique to study the chemistry of contraband drugs such as cocaine HCl at nanogram levels. The normal operating modes of an IONSCAN 400 ion mobility spectrometer were adjusted to allow the chemistry of the drugs to be examined in the sample chamber of the spectrometer. For example, a membrane with deposited drug is held in the sample chamber at a specified temperature up to 20 seconds with no air flow. An ON-OFF valve was placed in- line just before the carrier gas enters the desorption chamber where samples are heated. This modification allows the gas flow to be manually turned off while the sample is being heated. We have used this technique to examine the pyrolysis of cocaine hydrochloride under a variety of conditions. At the end of the designated reaction time, the air flow is turned on allowing the reaction products and any starting materials to flow into the spectrometer for analysis. This technique has allowed studies of the stability of the drugs at various temperatures on different surfaces. For example, evidence was obtained of cocaine HCl decomposition at 75 degrees for 5 seconds using Teflon as the support material. The use of this technique has also assisted us in choosing materials for pyrolysis studies in which the goal is the decompose target drugs quickly and efficiently for detection applications." [1]

I would enjoy more imput here to add evidence and explanations of these to support either claims; that cocaine is, or is not, mostly lost to pyrolysis when smoked.

You really can't...the reports you read were absolutely
correct. Cocaine HCL burns rather than vaporizes (as
would freebased cocaine). Mixing it w/ pot or putting it in a
cigarette gives a relaxing, kind of numbing sensation in the lungs, but
you can't smoke it and expect to feel the stimulating effects of it
unless it is crack.



To do so otherwise would be an excerszie in futility..

Well, i can give you _my_ experience...



As i said before, i've learned that in order to better smoke your coke
or crack, its better if you first lay a "bed of ash" in the surface of
the mouth of whatever you are going to use as a pipe; then, carefully
lay some cocaine in it, not too much, cause it tends to burn and make
black burnt chunks you can no longer smoke...



And finally, add some fire and enjoy! Personally i do get a strong high
out of each smoke, though everybody says you waste more than what you
get, i still like smoking it from time to time...

Smoking cocaine is the biggest waste ever. If you want to smoke it,
then make some crack and you will get a much more intense high.

from what i know. cocaine hydrochloride dissolves at low temps. so when smoked ur only getting around 20% of the total coke u had in the first place. best just to take it up the nostrils

Yeah almost anyone you meat that has used cocaine alot will say smoking it is a waste. I agree. I find that it barely works for me. And as for as freebasing dont do it. Just my opinion but the freebase junkies i have seen look even worse than the meth and herion ones.

When I smoke coke I just use baking soda. Get a little coke and
mix it with a little baking soda, then put a tad bit of water in the
mix. You should make a little pipe out of foil so that your
coke/bakingsoda/water mixture is inside a bowl. Then just hold a
lighter far under the foil and you will see the mixture fizzle.
Once it is done percipitating just hold the lighter under the foil and
suck with a pen. This is basically like crack, just not in the
form of a rock. This method is perfect for smoking small amounts
of coke and it is pretty easy too.

I seem to remember hearing someone say one time that you can dig some
tobacco out of a cig and drop in some C and smoke it. Anyone
tried this? Worth it? How much do you put in? Put in
a big chunk or powder. Any info on this subject appreciated.

Yes you can do that, it's also called a "coolie" as it will numb your mouth and have a fresh feeling. Unfortunately this is pretty much all it will do as uncooked cocaine (hcl powder) needs a higher temperature...no effect = waste


which is why people cook it into freebase, which is also know as crack.


so unless you have a lot of cocaine to waste on cooling your mouth, go for insulflation

Take out the filter of a cigarette, along with about a third of the tobacco. Roll a joint style filter to replace the original one. Line up a long thin line and suck it up through the cigarette. Pack the tobacco fairly tight and twist the open end of the smoke closed. This will burn very quickly, so don't take your time. Also, you must hold the smoke in as you would with weed. The effects are almost instant, but short lived, so it's most effective to do this before you start railing.

IF you want ur mouth to get numb i would suggest a dirty cigarette. tkae a cigarette and lick the end of the filter then stick it in a pile of coke, then smoke it, that makes your whole mouth numb. Im not sure of the effects of smoking non-freebased cocaine, but i know the coke gets spread all throghout your mouth, like a numby, when u put it on the end of a cigarette.

Swim thinks it's a waste to sprinkle coke in a joint. Most of the alkaloids are destroyed by the heat with this method.

I've heard many mixed reports on this, many say it works, many say it doesnt. I know people who do this all the time, we call it cocoa puffs. Science says this isnt possible to work because its in salt form. I would say just dont bother, dont take the chance of wasting it, just snort it and then smoke a joint.

I always smoke a little coke when I am indulging along w/snorting it. For me it seems to give me a nice rush. I just sprinkle some on top of a bowl, but the first time I tried coke was in a J, we called it a mackenball, although I'm not sure why. I guess to each his own. Try it, if you like it do it, if not, well, you know.

I know quite a few people who do this, and have read up a bit myself, and first of all, MOST of the coke is burnt to the point where it is unusable because it burns at 180 F or whatever. But, after the blunt is lit, a percentage of the coke is heated before it reaches the cherry, and whatever amount is heated properly before it is burned, is definitely ingested. True it is a waste as opposed to blowing it, but apparently it is very different from just doing lines and smoking a j becuse people swim knows swear by it.
