Propoxyphene Napsylate Extraction/Removing APAP
What is the best method of extracting APAP from the rest? Swim knows the Napsylate is not water soluble, and therefore can't be CWE'ed, but there still has to be some way to reduce APAP. Swim read elsewhere that a hot water extraction might work. Swim only has a few and can't try random solvents.
Is there a way, at least in theory, to extract the napsylate? If not, is there a way to convert it to Hcl? I did search, all over the place, and could find nothing. Swim would like to be able to prepare/extract material for IV, but it's not essential. |

Re: Propoxyphene Napsylate Extraction/Removing APAP
If it's not water soluble i still see no reason why the water method wont work. According to wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paracetamol It says 14 mg/mL @ 25C [1] mg/mL (20 °C)
That means 5,250mg of apap would absorb into 12.7 oz or 375 ml of water @77 degrees Fahrenheit. Surely with the temp raise a little more could be absorbed, but this definitely seems feasible and would be alot easier than any other method especially since its just water. |

Re: Propoxyphene Napsylate Extraction/Removing APAP
Swim just did a Hot water extraction on a 65/650. The resulting gunk is much smaller than the original pill. The water Swim tossed away had a strong APAP taste.
Swim gave up IVing this stuff. Far too dirty for Swim's standards of pill injection. Impossible to filter properly without lab grade equip it seems. Thanks. |

Re: Propoxyphene Napsylate Extraction/Removing APAP
Just out of curiosity how would swiy IV a pill that isn't water soluble. What would be in the needle to "water it down" and make it come out of the needle a liquid. He has heard of xanax being administered Iv route by docs so he is wondering how this would work.

Re: Propoxyphene Napsylate Extraction/Removing APAP
AFAIK, the water insoluble molecule is put into either a carrier solution, or a solution in which it can be water soluble is made.
They do this all the time in medical environments it seems. There are several types as well. Lots of benzos technically aren't water soluble but can be IV'ed fine. fiveleggedrat added 2 Minutes and 42 Seconds later... Sweet, found some info! May this help future Swimmers. Quote:

Re: Propoxyphene Napsylate Extraction/Removing APAP
Swim felt one day he was ready to meet the needle, and he has, in the form of 6mg hydromorphone, which gave Swim a mild high for 45 minutes.
Swim does not, and will not, make IV the main use; Swim only introduced IV for the occasional usage. As for propoxyphene, Swim decided it was not safe to IV this stuff. |
