Dreams and LSD visuals

Have any other swimmers experienced LSD-style visuals becoming intergrated into their dreams?

Swim has not taken any LSD for over a month and recently had two dreams, in the first, swim saw the sky split as though there was a tear in it, behind which the most incredibly bright and sharp LSD style visuals poured through.

More recently swim dreamed that he was tripping and the visuals began to overcome his vision of the real world, forming a new world entirely made of light. Very odd.

Swim finds it strange how vivid the visuals have become when he is dreaming, and how similar they are to the effects of LSD.

Re: Dreams and LSD visuals

The flamingo dreams about drugs/drug experiences/in drugs all the time, even those she has only tried once or twice (like ketamine LOL)

She has no explanation for it, but the dreams are exceptionally vivid and real, and the visuals and feelings are very substance specific

Some kind of state dependent learning: So that one is more able to return to a mental state once one has been there before? Unconscious overspill? Subconscious venting?

Re: Dreams and LSD visuals

This happens to SWIM a lot. Mostly in dreams where he "takes LSD", but most recently in a dream where he was floating between the earth and heaven. He dreamed that he opened his mouth and Vivaldi's Magnificat RV610 in G minor came soaring from his mouth, even from his very soul, in full bloom with a complete chorus and instrument ensemble. If you haven't heard the Magnificat, the first movement is absolutely earth-defying. So anyway, as he was standing there in the sky with this beautiful composition rushing through every cell in his body he looked up and saw that the clouds were moving back to reveal color in the sky. Slowly the colors blossomed into a huge acid-drenched digitalized stained glass window with what he assumed to be heaven shining down through it. This image then began to shatter and break apart as the Magnificat soared, and heaven began to envelope the earth.

That's all he could remember, but it was the most powerful dream, visually and aesthetically, that he has ever had.

Re: Dreams and LSD visuals

Most of the renowned dream experts, such as Stephen LaBerge, assert that to the mind, dreams are real. "Dream activities produce real physiological effects." (1) One can, to a certain extent, recreate a drug experience in a dream-state. SWIM has deliberately 'tripped' in a dream, asserting before sleep his/her desire to do 'Drug X' after achieving lucidity. (Lucidity is being aware that you're asleep and ideally able to control events that occur within them.) SWIM has even simulated trips/highs of drugs s/he hasn't done in-real-life before, to satisfactory results-- not in their validity, but in their enjoyment. I recommend practicing lucid dreaming, because it's excitement is unrivaled, in my opinion, to most aspects of life. You can fly, breathe underwater, turn into a giraffe, play out your sexual fantasies, and there's a strong possibility that certain behaviour in lucid dream states may help recovery from injuries, overcome anxiety/stage fright, etc., etc.

Re: Dreams and LSD visuals

Strangely enough I came on the forums to ask the same question, as SWIM had a dream last night where in the dream he woke up realizing he had taken LSD and saw his room, very much as if he had actually taken LSD and his bed covers were swirling with colourful plant-like fractal patterns. This particular dream did not last long but when waking up the memory of it was very vivid, SWIM tells me.

Amazing thing, that LSD.

P.s. for the record, SWIM's most recent trip was on the weekend.

Re: Dreams and LSD visuals

Y can only say this retrospectively, but all thier lives, they had abstract dreams. Sort of acidy visuals, but with metaphors, (all over Y's bimbo head back then, as Y just thought it was some mind quirk)
Now Y has had psychedelic experiences, he can see the relation.
Y dosent get such colorful detailed beauty and intricate pattern-work that the trip set room boys lay on, but he still gets the abstract pictures. I would say they are more like mdma or weed visuals.

Re: Dreams and LSD visuals

swim knows this is a dreams and LSD visuals thread, but feels this is pertinent. 2 days ago he had a dream that he went shrooming with a friend and subsequently made a very large mushroom pizza and ingested it. soon after his dream went into a very psychedelic (more than usual) phase. he woke up happier than usual with the mindset that he had taken psylocybin the day before, but after 15 minutes realized he really did not ingest any mushrooms, and his morning went back to the usual "fuck, im awake" mindset.
