Experiences - meprobamate as benzo alternative?

Swim's got tourette's and bipolar. Can't take any antipsychotic because of horrid, terrible side effects. Already on an anti-manic and anti-convulsant, an antihistamine, and a benzo, lorazepam. 2mgx3/day. Swim's been cycling, that is, up and down and up and down, including hallucinations. So a med switch is probably going to happen. I'm thinking of asking the doctor to withdraw the lorazepam and try meprobamate. It's kind of between and barbiturate and a benzodiazepine, def. a 2nd or 3rd line sedative...but adjusting the benzo seems to be the only safe thing they can do (based on past experiences). Could try switching to a different benzo, but the med team seems resistant to that idea.

Anyone with experience of switching from a Benzo like lorazepam onto meprobamate?
