Does anyone in the US know what the laws are regarding buying syringes? Can you just walk into any drug store and buy a pack? I'm talking insulin syringes, the orange cap ones, I guess around 1cc 30g. Swim has always gotten rigs from a friend whose mother had them in the house, but this is no longer an option. Also, do the laws vary by state? Please help...the ones I have now are dulling rapidly

Re: Syringe purchase
Yes the laws vary state by state so you might want to research that before going into a store and asking for them.....The worst case is that they will say no they are prescription only or something of that nature

Re: Syringe purchase
Just checked it out actually. Apparently NJ is the last state that doesn't let you purchase syringes without a perscription AND has no needle exchange programs. Figures.

also check if your state has a needle exchange center (some are unofficial/illegal but are tolerated by the state goverments, they most likely wont be listed in the phone book but check online and ask an assortment of addicts about it to see if they exsist); back 2 years ago (before they were legal to buy minus a prescription) in swims state when you needed a prescription to buy needles there where a few needle exchanges around that operated quasi-legally. in swims state of massachussettes all pharmasists requires is for you to show them a valid id to prove your over 18, he'd imagine other states reguire the same (but thats only an educated guess). Re: Syringe purchase
It seems NY are laws are more lax, even though swim is closer to PA its not much of a drive to either. Still cannot understand why politicians in a state notorious for heroin problems will not allow for needle exchange progrmas though.

Re: Syringe purchase
In Illinois they HAVE to sell you insulin syringes, up to 1 cc, as long as you have ID proving you are over 18. SWIM has been buying them for a couple years and only once had some douche bag ask "is this for insulin" ... "yeah" ... then he gave them to SWIM.
Be careful tho because some places like to fuck you around if they sense what you are doing. Like try and slip you the .33 cc needles which are pretty much worthless. Or, some places like Jewel only stock super expensive $12 a pack insulin needles. Walgreens has a pack of 10 for $2.55. I'm sure at least one state by you has similar laws. I was under the impression that Illinois' laws reflected the more progressive approach most states are taking now. |
