Purity - Testing MDMA crystal powder for purity

hi all
does anyone know of a way of checking MDMA crystal powder for purity?

my friend buys it all the time but has different strengh effects with each different purchase.

what sorta stuff could it be cut with hes thinkin...

What can it be cut with? Meth, speed, other amphetamines, sugar, caffeine tablets, aspirin, MDEA, MDMA, MDA and TONS of other things.

Get Marquis and Mecke testing kits, that can rule out a lot of things out.

From erowid regarding the Marquis Test:

The kit can identify whether a substance does not contain the presence of ecstasy-like substances (MDMA, MDA, MDE) through lack of reaction. The test kits can not positively identify that a pill contains ecstasy. It can not differentiate between the MD* chemicals nor tell you how much of these are in a pill. There is a growing belief that 'bunk' ecstasy producers are including a small amount of Marquis-positive chemicals to 'fool' the tests.

The Marquis test will turn dark purple/black for several substances (not just Ecstasy-like compounds) therefore the presence of purple/black reaction does not mean the pill necessarily contains ecstasy. Marquis field tests have been traditionally used to detect the presence of opiates & heroin (which turn pink to purple).

Valantini, all these kits can only confirm existence of MDMA and rule out some of the more known substances.

To REALLY know whats in a pull, you have to run a chromatography-mass spectrometry test which can only be found at a research lab. Its a big machine that you most likely won't get access too anyways.

So you CANNOT say with 100% certainty if its pure MDMA or not. End of story. All you can do is test it and eat it and see if it feels clean or dirty. But you cannot say with 100% certainty with any of these tests.

better safe than sorry, test everything that goes into swiy's body and never make exceptions, it could be the end of the swimming as we know it.

Performing a wash on the supposed MDMA and it will produce a very pure product.

No, but it's FAR better than nothing.

If you spend some time at ecstasydata.org, you'll see that a majority of the pills which have been shown to contain anything truly dangerous (rather than unpleasant) do not contain MDMA at all, so a Marquis test helps remove a good amount of risk from the taking of black market 'ecstasy' despite the limitations. All of this holds true for loose powder sold as MDMA.

omg my friend is SOOO excited at the thought of obtaining pure MDMA !!!

He never realised that the 'pure' crytals hes buying could be so badly un-purified as he thought that buy buying the powder he's bound to get a better MD experience anyway !! he never thought he could improve on an already better quality version of 'E'

he said he will follow up this thread with his user experience this weekend after spending a night on the uncut vesion 1st listening to LTJ Bukem Live 3 hour set in the city...then he said hes gonna purify it and compare it again in 2 weeks time...

my friend has bought his batch of 'molly' and on inspection its a light pinky / brown in colour and is chopped up into a fine texture, with a few 'lumps' mixed in.

on taste, it is very very bitter which he thinks from past experiences ( hes been doin mdma for 14 years) his in built bullshit detector tells him its goddam strong lolol

any thoughts you geezers ??

SWIM has had MDMA with some brownish crystals the other day. The product was good says SWIM and the brown stuff didn't seem any less potent. Correct me if I'm wrong but it may mean it just hasn't been washed properly?

SWIM believes that the colour doesn't really play a massive part in potency and is usually the result of the final wash when the MDMA is manufactured.

SWIM usually gets white or just off white lumps of MDMA but has on occasion obtained a sort of dark greenish gram rock which eventually crushes up into an off white powder.

SWIM definitely wouldn't avoid MDMA because the colour unless perhaps it was half of one colour and half of another (not really a great sign in SWIM's opinion).
