Experiences - raving on acid

swim watched her fairy friend take lsd at a rave. previously, her fairy friend had only taken ecstasy at raves and had not taken acid in over a year. however, once her fairy friend took it and entered the rave scene, she forgot she was tripping and behaved just like the candy kids (swim found her on the floor in one of those "people puddles"). when asked about this later, swim's fairy friend said that she DID know she was tripping because the music shaped her world more than it would have on x, but she also felt much more free than she did on x. in fact, x made her feel slightly unwanted and insecure (at least, at times). this time, she felt confident and surprisingly in control.

so, what gives? is lsd ALONE usually a good rave supplement or is swim's fairy friend unique? also, given swim's fairy friend's reaction, do you think she would enjoy candyflipping?

That sounds like a fluke, getting the dose and the frame of mind/setting just right. It doesn't always go as well as that.

What gives? Quite possibly a powerful contact-high with the energy of all the people on the MDMA. LSD can make something tangible like music set a mind. It can also make people tune-in on the mental terrain of others.

SWIM loves acid at a rave, just not too high of a dose. Things get too hectic when the dose is too high but lower doses are great.

Two words - Acid House. Think about it...

A Certain Mouse used to love dancing on LSD - usually a quarter to half trip would be enough to have him bouncing around harder, faster & by golly longer than the speed-freaks & E-bunnies. Happy daze!

First, is SWIY sure it was LSD? Something like 2CB can have very MDMA-like effects at low doses.

Second, a low dose of LSD can, under the right circumstances, lead to this kind of trip. Sir Tokesalot used to dance like a madman at psytrance festivals for hours and hours on end, feeding off the energy of everyone on the dancefloor and flipping out like a madman in turn. Now, this is psy/goa, and the atmosphere is very different from a rave (which he can't stand), but in essence, in him acid did make for a similar trip.

At high doses this is impossible, but then a whole lot of things are impossible - and a whole lot more things are possible - at the higher dosage levels of LSD.

swim's fairy friend is confident it was not anything but lsd, as the blotter was not large enough to hold anything else.

swim's personal theory is that her fairy friend has a personality like ecstasy brings out. hence, ecstasy doesn't bring it out, but rather acid does (much in the same way that adderall is prescribed to adhd kids). this is why she would like to know what the COMBINATION would do.

Of course, the acid house 'scene' was based on low doses of acid (as well as MDMA)-- not to mention the raves in Goa, etc.

A 500 mcg trip might not be comfortable in those circumstances!

my raver friends can admit that LSD as well as other "tripping" drugs tend to work very nicely at raves as long as the person is already well acquainted with the substances. Plus it's nice to break things up so that one doesn't abuse MDMA when frequenting raves.

Even on fairly high doses, being surrounded by people on a less potent substance seems to dampen the trip and put the tripper more on the same level as the people around them. LSD's tendency to produce high states of suggestibility may be the culprit here. SWIM has taken around 400ug around a bunch of drunk people and didn't get more than a body high and some slight visuals--a week later he took the same dose alone in his house thinking it was weak and ended up tripping to god's harpsichord canvas room where all the walls are draped in arabic patterns and amish quilts.

So there's definitely some way that the brain under the influence of LSD sort of "adapts" to the "group consciousness", if you will. That has been SWIM's experience at least.

I would be careful man, hallucinogens can turn on you in a snap of a finger even without high doze. Read the psychosis on LSD thread about a dude that took a high doze of acid and ended up in jail/hospital.

You will be surrounded by people, you will be surrounded by cops. And worst, people will expect you to be on something. If sh|t doesn't go as planned, beware because it can get ugly. LSD has a lot of surprises, even for a seasoned vet.

SWIM has done loads of acid by itself @ raves, but also with Ketamine too (though he stays away from that now). Acid by itself is amazing at a rave, better than MDMA or Es....most Es these days leave him feeling down for days, probably coz there's something else in them.
He wants to try Mescaline @ a rave one day, because it combines a shroom/acid trip with an MDMA-feeling but without the horrible chemical comedown.

The horrible feeling comes from the MDMA itself unfortunately. It's a drug which gives a great feeling initially, but prolonged use leads to nasty aftereffects. There are numerous references to this in the literature.

SWIM has candy-flipped once. It was pretty strong (for SWIM) acid that was taken and peaked during the day, then SWIM went out clubbing in the evening and dropped loads of beans. The acid was nice and mellow by that time, and really helped to enhance the mood, bring out colours and sounds, make women look fantastic etc etc. SWIM would love to candyflip again, given the opportunity and right setting.
