Urine says positive, hair says negative

Swim had urine test in May, came back positive for cocaine, swim denied this and a hair test was done that came back negative, then in September another urine test came back postive for cocaine, again swim denies this........could something be causing swim to have positive urine samples ??

Re: Urine says positive, hair says negative

You could ask them to do a GC/MS test to prove that you are clean. Amoxicillin(antibiotic) could cause a false positive(erowid).

Re: Urine says positive, hair says negative

Swim is in the forces, after the first urine test they agreed to hair test and as it came back neg swim was allowed to stay in forces, they have tested again and swim was due to be kicked out last week, as swim said something is wrong they are looking into the legal side and swim is at his own doctors tomorrow to discuss.

Wouldnt the forces have done the test you mention and why is hair test is clear would urine be positive

Sorry for all questions but swim is now very depressed by all this and doesn't know if he can fight the forces for a second time as they want him out

Re: Urine says positive, hair says negative

GC/MS tests from what I understand do not cause false positives. Swiy would be advised to talk to the person conducting the test and ask for it to be GC/MS screened. From what swim understands, most places use dip sticks, he is not so sure about the military though.

Swim doubts they did a GC/MS test and it wouldn't hurt a bit to ask. Also, swiy could ask them to do another hair test to prove that he is clean.

Re: Urine says positive, hair says negative

Thanks
Swim going to ask Doctors if his hayfever med could cause false / positive in urine or if he has a medical issue
Swim hopes forces agree to another hair test - forces are on back foot after swim stated there could be issues as the hair test should be more accurate and this should be taken into account as it was totally clear

If they do happen to discharge swiy, swim is sure you could file a lawsuit(well in america atleast, we sue for everything). But if swiy is discharged, swiy should definitely talk to a solicitor.

Re: Urine says positive, hair says negative

Swim was due to be dicharged last Wednesday. Swim informed forces that swim is going to his own Doctor and also seeking legal advice, Forces then backtracked and said that they needed their legal team to look into swims claims of false positives and the fact the hair test was negative.
Swim due back on base on Tuesday
