Anyone got plans for New Years Eve 2008?

Just wondering what everyone plans to do NYE this year?

Little fishy is going to the Birmingham NEC for Slammin Vinyl with his best friend and just can't wait. They got the VIP tickets. Could you ask for more than a rave with music you love more than life itself, your best friend and a nice stash of MDMA. I think this is going to be the best night of his life!!

I watched the DVD of last years event with her last night and it was amazing!

Re: Anyone got plans for New Years Eve 2008?

Kinda hard to get out with a bedridden spouse. Same old means sit at the house, drink strong beverages, and usually go to bed before the stroke of midnite.(That way, I miss out on all the gunfire and hoping no damn bullets come thru the roof)

Re: Anyone got plans for New Years Eve 2008?

Why not have some friends over and party, maybe SWIY could partake in some substance(s) abuse.

Mind you I guess the excitement of new years wears off as you get older, for some it must feel like a necessity rather than a desire to party.

Same as last year, treat it just like any other day of the week but go to bed before the bells.

Re: Anyone got plans for New Years Eve 2008?

ISO, NYE is like a drug itself. When it comes, people get excited and have an exuse to abuse drugs or act more free and whatnot. But, what is the difference between NYE and every other day? Nothing in reality.

...Although, the thing i like is that the uptight people loosen up a bit and fit in more. (if you know what i mean)

..as for swim, not sure yet, perhaps a rave. hmm...

Re: Anyone got plans for New Years Eve 2008?

Wow, NYE? We're still worrying about halloween. With some luck, Mrs. Radio will be pregnant by then and we won't be doing much.

Not that we usually do. Since we've gotten older, every year we buy tickets to something, and then decide to stay home and pretend to take lots of drugs by ourselves. Last year we actually made it to the show we planned to, but then we went back to our hotel before 1 AM to finish the night in private.

Well, you asked for it...

My plan was to go out in full fancy drag of some sort this year. But the costume I ordered did not arrive yet, and I'm totally stressed and busy currently, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I have a geisha costume that is a bit too large and would require some sewing to wear, plus I have no fricking idea how to do the makeup and wig to go along with it.

My wife will be wearing a very fancy gothic lolita dress she had custom made and a blue pigtailed wig ,and frankly I am insanely jealous of her costume.

Which would be SWIMs ideal NYE.
So SWIM may spend another year at home with her friend Mrs Brown
SWIM would love to be 'free' but its not always possible
Surely you must have one friend you can take along with you? Even if they are not big fans the music the atmosphere at such events is enough on it's own. Or you could always arrange to meet people off the net from forums you frequent. You quite often see people making such arrangements on the event promoters site(s).

That sounds like what most people do in the town centre every weekend in England already. :P

Re: Anyone got plans for New Years Eve 2008?

NYE is always an anti-climax for SWIM. Its always built up to be something special and ends up being shit. Last year SWIM was in Aberdeen city centre for the street party. Fresh out of rehab but had had a sort of 2 day lapse. So NY day was spent strung out sweating in bed cause all dealers shut up shop for this crappy day up here. SWIM eventually scored about 5 in the afternoon. Actually felt like killing SWIMself. That was the start to a year that has went pretty much been the same all the way through.

SWIOldHippie being at home with SWIMs wife is the best way to spend it. Its all just an excuse to drink anyway

I know what you mean. I have seen many long running feuds end on a NYE night because everyone decided to love each other and have a great time. It is also nice to see the uptight people loosen up a bit and let themselves go with the flow.

Is that when you ride her from behind and mid fuck tell her that her sister is better and see how long you can hold on for?

I'm always of the opinion that the night (or any other night for that matter) is what you make it. If you go in to something sub-consciously thinking it's going to be shit then it most likely will.

Re: Anyone got plans for New Years Eve 2008?

I hope that this thread can be a nice complementary thread to the current thread: What was your best NYE plan / experience?

Re: Anyone got plans for New Years Eve 2008?

shit any excuse to party will always do & the smurfs have high standards when it comes to personal traditions & this is one that has always been awesome & up there, the worlds humans universal consciousness is at it's peak. well at least i thought so until i read some posts on this thread...

yeah it's just another day/night but smurfs can still & love to party so really looking forward to this one. probably gonna party on the beach where ever the party's at locally. raves are'nt what they used to be any more here cos they keep on with this electro crap & rolling to that is like chewing at your wrists to commit suicide. perhaps there's some good trance dj's over this year then the smurfs'll hit that first before the beach party.

as for the gravy... well lots of the usual safe variety over a span of around 3 - 4 days is usually how long the party goeson for on a big occassion.

I'm always of the opinion that the night (or any other night for that matter) is what you make it. If you go in to something sub-consciously thinking it's going to be shit then it most likely will.
For sure. You have to want to embrace. Although, my biggest opinion is that you don't need an "occasion" or special day to be free. But atleast most people will join you, even if they are uptight. If they(ego) don't "enjoy" being free, and dont want to be universal then they(ego) have problems. It's a fact. Too bad though.

...It must suck being blind... sigh
