Addiction - Does anyone else find after using for 3-4 days SWIY feel like you need to get more?

SWIM is on methadone maintenance and finds that whenever he uses H if he does not use again for 3 - 4 days he will constantly think about H and sometimes will almost rock back and forth while thinking about getting some.

This subsides on 4th day but usually by this time SWIM has more money so cycle continues.

Anyone else get this?

Everone has this thats why heroins so addictive, both mentally and physically. However this does get easier with time, trust swim, methadone taken properlly definatley reduces cravings but using on top wrecks any hope of it being a success..SWIMS stabilized succesfully on 70ml of methadone and got clean for 4-5 months off the heroin..

SWIM has been on suboxone for 2 weeks now. This is the longest in almost 2.5 years SWIM hasn't done H.

SWIM has HORRIBLE cravings. Rocking back in a forth, almost crying and shit. They haven't gone away. SWIM had the worst ones yesterday, 2 weeks later. But I think methadone helps with cravings a lot more than Bupe.

3 days is enough for heroin addiction to begin.

Forgive swim if he has misread/misunderstood swiys question.
Methadone is no majical cure potion for Heroin addiction,It is however an excellent "SUBSTITUTE" for somebody that truley wishes to kick their Heroin habbit.
Methadone is also what swim refers to as a "piggy back" drug meaning that due to it's "mean" half life of around 20 hrs (can be anything from 4-120hrs) It can take 3-4 days to reach a even flat line dose,This is one of the reasons why addicts initially switching from Heroin to methadone can have huge variations of feeling good,feeling bad and up and down levels of cravings.
Remember as well that methadone is only a subsitute for Heroin,it does not remove ones addiction it simply replaces it,hopefully this leads to a less chaotic life style and gives the user time to try and sort things out.
Naturally if swiy stops or reduces the meth and goes on a 1-2 day H binge the initial cycle may well begin again...

Yep swim has this very same problem except swim doesn't roll swim's head back and forth!! swim just keeps watching the clock and looking at swims mobile thinking should swim, shouldn't swim. Swiy is not alone on this, this is why H is so addictive.

Swim is doing exactly what swiy is atm, due to funds, or lack of! but, swim thinks this isn't a bad thing as swim is using much less. swim hopes swim can carry on only using every 3rd/4th day even when swim has better cash flow.

SWIM was just curious Jon about whether this effects other users like it does SWIM. In some cases SWIM finds he needs to get some money urgently no matter what during these first few days but there is no such effect with other opiates. Do SWIY see what I mean?

Yea swim just thought he'd remind swimmers how the meth works!
Heroin has by far the biggest psychological addiction compared to most other opiates,swim wrote in a recent thread that he thought the psychological/physical persentage split was 70%/30% or there abouts,so it stands to reason that in the early days of withdrawls or switching to a substitute(swiys emotions all messed up)That the smallest of triggers can make swiy suddenly want to score.ie £10 note,Tin foil,Srynge,Spoon,Gas bill,Had a bad day,Burnt your toast-swims point is this it's perfectly normal and in time it will ease(note the word ease) swim can still get a sudden crave for some crack,It passes just try to distract swiyself for 10 mins.
Never underestimate the power of the brain..
And yes it affects every swimmer

Swim was just wondering swinJ-q how long swiy has been a user? just noticed swiy's age is similar to swim and swim wondered if swiy has a similar history to swim? i.e started off with pot and moved onto the Rave e scene etc etc.

1985-1986= stealing odd spliff off big brother,alcohol at weekends and magic mushrooms.
1987-1989 = Lots of weed esp at gigs "stone roses,happy mondays,james,acid esp at "new order gigs",speed,coke and alcohol.
1988-1992 = More of the above plus first "E's" taken at hacienda(late 88-early 89) first "RAVE" 89 lots more E,acid and speed began using acid and speed on a daily basis.Began drinking every week day.
1988-1992 = Drinking became more of a problem,Began smoking E's at end of night as a come down"early 92" (black/red) caps that swim knows for a fact contained ?% HEROIN,club scene had lost it's "Heart" by "92"(for swim) used to still go but more for drinking + smoking E's.
1988-1994 = Drinking became a real problem by late 93 abusive + violent e.t.c,smoked first bag of H in december 1993~H use increased by early 1994 fully addicted to Heroin Iv-ing.
Crack addiction 96-99 ish.Drinking had become more social 95-2002.stopped drinking in 2002,stopped Iv-ing around 99.swim still has fully blown H addiction,and in 14 yrs can count number of total weeks clean from Heroin on both hands..
swim does not think any of the above is clever,hard,cool e.t.c 1987-1991 were the best years of swims life!The rest were complete stupidity and have been the worst years of swims life.....

Cheers swiy, swim must have been in the Hacienda on same occasion(s) as swiy as swim went there alot when it was good. Swim felt it went crap around '92/93 so swim carried on the 'scene' but found clubs elsewhere to be better, too many idiots in the Hac thinking they 'were the man' strutting round in their Armani Jeans and Destroy tops. It went far too precocious for swims liking. Swim never discovered (for want of a better word) H till 5 years ago but, apart from that swiy's story pretty much apart from a few details mirrors swim's.

Methadrone added 3 Minutes and 53 Seconds later...

Swim scored two nights ago after a 5 day lay off and found the H to be decent quality to the point where swim got a real good nod. Swim doesn't know if its swims tolerance going down or the fact they maybe the H is getting back to its 'normal' quality. Swim hopes swim can lay of for another 5 days without scoring. swim managed it last night but, it was tough and swim is trying to put it out of there head today, with not much luck.
