Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
SWIM has been told by a few people that the right nostril goes to the brain and the left nostril goes to the throat. This does not seem at all logical or even possible.
From what SWIM knows, both nostrils lead into the sinus cavity and then into the throat. The powder, whether snorted from the left or right nostril, sits in your sinus cavity and dissolves. Since your capillary vein is in your sinus cavity and it leads directly to your brain, the powder will dissolve and be into the bloodstream very fast. Is SWIM correct? |

Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
SWIM was always told the left nostril was better than the right..........
SWIM presumes it doesnt make any difference though. |

Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
It all depends on which nostril you've abused the most. The one with the least damage will result in the best absorption.

Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
Swim prefers the left (is left handed) but uses both when snorting large amounts of material for maximum absorption.
No difference between them. They go the same place. I would chalk up anything else to superstition. |

Haha, no offence or anything, but this is probably the stupidest drug-related thing I've hear since...since...well, since someone asked "Can DMT be made from soap and balsamic vinegar?"

Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
Yeah SWIM should probably switch up SWIM's nostrils more. SWIM always uses the right, and when there is a lot of vicodin, the right nostril has trouble with it all.

Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
Yeah I am pretty sure that it makes no difference which nostril you use, though depending on how much you use the same nostril it could get clogged or damaged so switching it up is never a bad idea.

Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
Now swim is not sure which nostril he uses. He sits here trying to figure it out and thinks he uses the left nostril, and swim is right handed. Not sure tho. Swim must take notice of that next time

Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
When my Bill nose dives he has a technique which is to hold the snooter (whatever it may be) firmly between the middle finger and thumb of his right hand, using the index finger of that hand to clamp his right nostril shut; he holds the surface on which the substance is sitting in his left and brings it up to his face and proceeds to sniff.
This technique means that he uses his left nostril the most. Bill has heard the rumours about the left nostril being to the right; for example whilst using Ketamine he was told that the left nostril would lead to a more profound trip whereas the right would last longer. He also reckons this may be the largest amount of tripe he has been confronted with in a long time and indeed does find it hard to swallow. That being said, if SWIY has an idea in their head, i.e. The left nostril will make my trip deeper, they may in fact find it is; due only to the psychological effect this beliefe will leave imprinted in your mind during your the start of the trip at least. This is of course all unfounded and just what Bill reckons... And he is no scientist. Edit: My Bill would like to add that he is very pleased with his technique and welcomes everyone who isn't yourselves or anyone else, for that matter, to try it. Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
Swim has only once used the right nostril the rest of the time it has always been the left. Swim tends to do it with out thinking. Swim is right handed though.

Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
when insufflating anything, SWIM always snorts one line up one nostril, then one line up the other, then wait a minute or two, and repeat. if one just snorts up one nostril, it'll get too clogged up, so that's why SWIM likes to do both.

Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
Depending on what time of day it is, the body may favor one side for breathing. When you wake up, put a finger below each nostril and blow out the nose. You will feel more pressure one one side, more likely then not the left. By mid-day, both nostrils will be equal, and by dusk, the other side will be favored. This will occur independent of any natural congestion (though colds, allergies, drug damage may change this)
Probably best to go with the dominant nostril for ease of inhalation if you are only doing a small amount, otherwise split it up. Nobody would love to test this on someone with a lobotomy of the corpus collosum, where the lobes are seperated down the middle to treat severe seziures. Such people report all sorts of weird happenings. Close one eye and they can read a word but not say it, close the other and they won't know what it means, hands going in oppisite directions when they are supposed to be pulling on pants, being unable to write with one hand, unable to draw with the other. |

Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
After years of play swim is just bothering to start mixing it up by using the left. Can't notice any difference between the left or right nostrel/sinus. (sinus?) So thats pretty sweet he guesses.

Re: Insufflation: Right nostril vs. left?
swim preferes the right, but like FLR, both is commonly used when multiple lines are involved. But for a bump? the right.
And slightly relevant.....Swim does lines from right to left, doesn't matter what nostril. |
