Side effects - which additonal chemical in OTC dxm creates least negative effects

swim was wondering if either acetaminophen or guaifenesin or other additives in dextromethorphan over the couner products cause less negative effects (nausea, stomach discomfort, vomiting, dizziness ect.) than another.

even though DXM can cause these effects on its own, swim wants to know which additive is less harsh.

acetiminophen kills you, sorbitol gives you mad diarrhea, guaifenesin makes you puke your guts out. I'm not sure about any others, but it's a matter of opinion whether you'd rather be having disgusting diarrhea or puke.

Guaifenesin seems to be the least dangerous. It won't kill you, and some people seem to be able to handle large amounts of it without puking. However, some people will indeed puke.

Make sure to never take over 4000mg of Acetiminophen at once (dont get close) and CPM is absolutely awful for you.

As a guideline, only take DXM only preparations to be safe.

thanks so much for the information, and yes, swim would most definitely do an extraction, swims foaf had ingested DXM with the guaifenesin and wasnt sure it was the safe one to dose with.

Guaifenesin isnt deadly, thankfully, but can cause kidney stones.

DXM only products, everyone. They aren't hard to find.

4000mg acetiminophen is in the FATAL overdose range. Half that is enough for a mild OD, unpleasant and sickening.
