More Frank Lies on cannabis
CANNABIS LATEST NEWS - FRANK
![]() Cannabis is in the news, so here at FRANK we wanted to give you the facts behind the headlines. Last year the government asked the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) to review the classification of cannabis to recommend whether it should stay as a Class C drug or be moved to a Class B. The ACMD’s report confirms that cannabis poses a real threat to the health of those who use it since:
I am pretty sure frank is twisting words again here or dam right lying again. Quote:
Currently cannabis is a Class C drug. It’s illegal to have, sell or give away. The maximum penalty of possessing cannabis is 2 years in prison, and the maximum you can get for dealing is 14 years in prison. If and when it becomes a Class B drug, it will still be illegal to have, sell or give away. The maximum penalty for possession for personal use will go up to 5 years in prison and a maximum of 14 years for dealing. The Government are now talking to the Police about how the law will be enforced and what is likely to happen to people who are caught in possession of cannabis. We’ll keep you up to date on this and make sure you know when the law changes. http://www.talktofrank.com/article.aspx?id=2808 |

Re: More Frank Lies on cannabsi
"After considering the evidence in this latest report, the government have said that they intend to reclassify cannabis as a Class B drug and are looking to do this by the end of the year."
In fairness, it doesn't say that the ACMD recommended bring it back to class B. It just said that their findings were "considered" by the government, whatever that should mean. I guess they're weighing up scientific information against social stigmas and decided they needed to tuck their balls between their legs and comply with granny smarm. A weak move. |

Re: More Frank Lies on cannabsi
This is the UK and cannabis has NOT been legal there since it's drop to class C. The penalties were just lessened. Cannabis isn't technically legal in the Netherlands (Amsterdam is a city) either. It's decriminalised and can be bought in government-regulated coffeeshops. That might all change soon enough though. Currently, there's a major push to repeal these liberal laws. It's already started with the clamp-down on grow equipment. Considering they're thinking of criminalising prostitution again as well, Dutch tourism might be falling hard on its head.

Re: More Frank Lies on cannabsi
O SWIM heard of the reclassification of cannabis to Class C but didnt think it was ok to buy sell or give away without penalty, SWIM thought the only major change with being rescheduled was that there were fines involved with possesing cannabis rather than jail time. SWIM knos Amsterdam is a city but thought that was the only place that the gov. regulated coffee shops in the Netherlands were located..who wants to go to Amsterdam if theres no prostitutes, shrooms, or bud? lol jp

Re: More Frank Lies on cannabsi
I got the impression that frank were misleading people into thinking ACMD advice was
recommending a change from class c to B. But looking at it I was a little heavy handed with my words.Frank makes me angry. Anyway what is the point of making cannabis a class B drug ? All the change in law seems to dose is criminalise users more as for dealing makes no difference which class its in, the penalties stay the same. Last edited by Evil GIR; 14-10-2008 at 18:32. |

Re: More Frank Lies on cannabsi
The article does give the impression that the ACMD was in favour of Gordon Brown's
decision to reclassify cannabis back to a ‘Class B’ drug. And you can be sure that this carefully deceptive wording was fully intentional on the part of FRANK. |

Re: More Frank Lies on cannabis
But when the ACMD recommends that MDMA should be moved down, they don't know what they are talking about..

Re: More Frank Lies on cannabis
Dickon's Version of What Frank should Say.
Cannabis can: Make you appreciate music more. Make you giggly and silly some times, espically if you're new to it. Make you paranoid or anxious, (my sex-starved inmate stopped using it when it started doing this) Make you talk what you think are profound thoughts but which you may or may nor realise in more sober moments, might be quasi-profound as opposed to genuinely profound thoughts. Make you realise that there is not one perspective on the world, consciousness can be changed chemically, a very useful thing to know. Make you rather boring and/or passive aggressive with long-term heavy use, but that might be more because to those of us who don't smoke dope all day, talking about it isn't our cup of tea. Make you unfit to drive (I'm not sure about this. Burroughs swears he could not drive on it, I think someone I'm related to drives fine on it. I've never tried) Make you lethargic, unmotivated, but this is far from inevitable. Maybe it's just a good excuse for lazy unmotivated people to become more so. Make you cough, and is almost certainly bad for your lungs. My sex-starved inmate used to smoke it neat (i.e. He'd stopped tobacco), and it made his breathing worse. Make sensations and perceptions be heightened, and allow access to artistic talents that are not accessable when not stoned, especially musical ones. Make one feel spiritually enlightened in some way. Although I've never met a heavy dope-head I'd want for my personal Guru. Well something like that. I'm sure I've missed out one or two, and someone who likes it will whinge about some of the negatives I've put in, or maybe someone against it will whinge about the positives. But I think it's FRANK! lol. Dr D shuffles off. Dickon added 190 Minutes and 11 Seconds later... not forgetting to add that the above is all lies, or at least maybe Last edited by Lunar Loops; 22-10-2008 at 21:22. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
