Health - Cocaine = insanity?

Everytime she takes coke, a friend of mine goes insane the next day/night, hearing voices, being petrified, hot and cold sweats.
Does this happen to anyone else?
She is getting very scared and won't be taking coke anymore.

smurf is no doc but it sounds like psychosis from the effects & comedown reactions. everyone's brain reacts differently to the effects of drugs, at least she is gonna be wise & stop using or these events would cause worse psychosis for many months even years after.

No. Swim has observed a junkie doing lots of IV coke. He would hear voices and sounds that weren't there, and becoming extremely paranoid, pacing, looking for imaginary cops.

What Swiy described sounds definitely abnormal.

I suggest stopping use permanently.

I have found that she may have a problem called oneirophrenia which is a sleep disorder linked to schizophrenia, definatly no more coke for her!

I was gonna suggest that she may be schizophrenic and the symtoms are only now begining 2 manifest themselves due to drug use but there you have it ^ definately keep her away from mind altering substances if possible

She should stay away from ALL stimulants. Including coffee. And consult with a physician. This could well have helped to diagnose an underlying condition that could manifest itself in the near future. A doctor - told the truth - should be able to refer SWIM to a specialist that can make a diagnosis based on the current findings: Extreme sensitivity to CNS stimulants with a psychotic-reaction to same.

The voices could be the onset of psychosis.
Y heard voices before amphetamine psychosis descended.
Both coke and speed are dopamine active (?terminology)

Psychosis occurs when certain dopamine action is excessive in certain parts of the brain (scuse scant knowledge)

Y never liked coke as the aggitation was unbearable on the comedown. It was there even after sleeping.
