Why do SWIM feels like CRAP for weeks now ??

Swim doesn't know if this is the right section of the forum to post this question so he apologizes and mod can certainly move this thread to the right section if he/she feels the need to.

Swim has been feeling really weird for the past few weeks. A feeling of not well being. He is not sick or anything but he feels wired for most of the time, like he is over-hyper or some shit. He doesn't consume any stimulants and tries to even stay away from coffee. Swim was a regular off-and on cocaine user for about a year and has been clean for a year as well. He doesn't do any drugs, only weed from time to time but even that he stopped using. The last time he smoked was 5 days ago and he doesn't plan continuing to smoke.

With all this feeling of being hyper and euphoric he also feels powerless, headaches from time to time, sweats from time to time, urge to vomit from time to time, and swim feels like he must close his eyes and just crawl somewhere and sleep.

Swim has been also suffering from a really bad sleep as of late - so maybe this has something to do with it.

All swim wants is to CALM THE FUCK DOWN, relax at night time and not think about anything - just relax the mind and the body. Weed does help him big time when it comes to this esp. the sleeping part but he doesn't want to continue his weed habit and spend his hard earned money.

Is there any natural product that works these days that can just calm you down and make you feel better. Every day swim feels like he's having a hangover from a heavy night of drinking - could this be the sleeping issue ??

Swim takes Paxil 10mg a day for anxiety. He has been on it for almost a year now. The reason why he was prescribed Paxil was because of anxiety and stress not depression. Anxiety and Panic attacks were caused by cocaine use most likely thats why SWIM quit cocaine in the first place. Swim is not depressed at all or anything. Swim is tapering off Paxil and is trying to quit this as well.

But why does SWIM feel like ^ above described.

Thanks for all the help.

Not sure about any natural product other than melatonin. As for trying to calm down, exercise and meditation work great for me when I feel myself getting hyper or just to clear my head and be able to relax.

not tryin to shoot SWIyou down but is it possible that SWIyou is bi-polar and having a manic episode? Then again these could just b side-effects of the paxil that after a year are begining to manifest themselves, SWIM knos little about paxil but this is certainly a possiblity

i was going to say the same thing, the bit about SWIM smoking weed to calm down,i had a friend who was bipolar and found the weed helped and the paxil perhaps is having an adverse effect on SWIM,my friend was on prozac when she developed a full blown manic episode, not sure if paxil can do similar?

It absolutely can, most people with bipolar need to take a mood stabilizer alongside any antidepressant to prevent manic episodes occurring.

Re: Why do SWIM feels like CRAP for weeks now ??

k SWIyou's best bet is to consult SWIyou's physician and c if these are possible side-effects of the semi-long-term prozac use

Re: Why do SWIM feels like CRAP for weeks now ??

try paracetamol, its probably the lowest strength calming agent around. People use it to aid sleep quite often

lostmente added 1 Minutes and 17 Seconds later...

second to that, passionflower tea...its mildly narcotic and is considered an anti-psychotic by herbalists (which to say is a tranquilizer and can mediate mania, something swiy does not want to play in for too long)

Re: Why do SWIM feels like CRAP for weeks now ??

Indeed. Paxil, Zoloft - the whole family of SSRI's are notorious for causing the effects you mention. I suggest you speak to the doctor and have him taper those off. Another (non-SSRI) should be tried for efficacy. If it's intolerable, a short-term course of benzodiazepines might be prudent - but expect the doctor to be very cautious in prescribing such. While the addictive qualities of benzo's are well known, the negative aspects of SSRI's tend to be greatly downplayed/ignored by the pharmaceutical industry. So the doctor may be skeptical. You might search this site for references and direct him here with a reading-list for further information/proof.
