How to turn highs more positive and energetic?
Someone once said to me,
"I have smoked every weekend sometimes more, sometimes not that much but I seem to have paranoid and sleepy highs no matter how much or where I smoke. After smoking I start to feel confused. I promise myself not to smoke again because of that uncomfortable feeling. I feel better when I lay down but then I get really sleepy and want to go to sleep. Is it possible to somehow turn highs more positive? Thank You very much! "

Drugs have different effects on different people. What form is the weed that you're smoking in? (solid, bud, resin)

Re: How to turn highs more positive and energetic?
SWIY should try smoking a sativa. Don't self-incriminate. No one on this site does anything illegal.

Re: How to turn highs more positive and energetic?
SWIM smokes bud. Is it possible to know if SWIM`s smoking sativa or indica. Dealers round SWIM`s home have only one kind of stuff so it`s not possible to get what SWIM wants. She has to take what she gets. Would it be normal for SWIM to ask her deales sativa? Thank You for answereing.

Re: How to turn highs more positive and energetic?
Well SWIY might want to ask. Normally sativa buds are a little less dense, resined, and lighter colored (those might just be coincidences for SWIM but he finds it to be true). It might be possible that SWIY is also just getting paranoid because they are smoking a sativa? or cannabis in general makes them paranoid? Does SWIY have problems with paranoi/anxiety when she's sober? SWIM probably gets sleepy because after smoking your melatonin levels are raised. SWIY might want to try having something with a little caffeine to prevent falling asleep if it's that much of a problem. SWIMs suggestion would be to try not to worry, the more experience with cannabis SWIY has the more they might feel comfortable, also SWIY might want to try doing fun positive things!
If the problems don't stop SWIM suggests not smoking cannabis. If SWIY isn't enjoying themselves there isn't much reason to indulge in the substance unless it is for medical reasons. Hope this helps. |

Re: How to turn highs more positive and energetic?
SWIM is on antidepressants and Xanax. She isn`t that paranoid but her boyfriend is afraid of being caught high. I guess it makes her a bit more paranoid. But yesterday they smoked a small amount ( not more than they usually do ) and they had the time of their lives. It was defenitely the best high they had had. All the time SWIM and her boyfriend just walked around and talked. SWIM didn`t do anything different this time but it was much better than before.Even his boyfriend wasn`t paranoid when they passed some people. Maybe they are just getting used to marijuana and the bad hight thing was just the beginning. Could it be possible that they won`t get bad trips again because they are used to the effects of cannabis?
Drinking coffee is a good idea! Thanks!

Re: How to turn highs more positive and energetic?
Paranoia, if identified early, can be crushed through deep and steady breathing, focusing on one point (the horizion is good for this) and taking it easy. Paranoid about being caught? Find somewhere you are so unlikley to be that it won't bother you - take a trip out into remote areas, deliberately go off the beaten path a little and find a quiet place to light up - changing your surroundings can also help to reduce tollerance. If you are listening to music choose it with paranoia and panic in mind - Bobby McFerrin's Don't Worry, Be Happy is very difficult to freak out to, whilst thrash metal et al is. I have heard the follwing statistic bandied about, although I do not have any idea whether it is true or not, and it is as follows: 1/3rd of the people who try weed like it and will smoke it again, 1/3rd think it's ok but doesn't do much for them, or simmilar, and the last 1/3rd react very poorly too it and it is simply not the drug for them. If it doesn't give any benefit don't waste your money on it. As previous posters have said, if you have access to potent and short acting benzodiazapines these may be useful to alay paranoia, but nor will it allow you to experience "cannabis as cannabis", to paraphrase the philosopher.

The 1/3rd statistic is from DXM FAQ, not for cannabis. |

Re: How to turn highs more positive and energetic?
It may be, but I'm pretty sure I've heard it on a couple of occasions in relation to cannabis. I did, however, say that I did not know it's providence.

Re: How to turn highs more positive and energetic?
Swim understands an above post of fear being caught high. Swim has had panic attacks while on Nitrous Oxide, DXM, and Marijuana. Especially nitrous, and often.
For a good calm, positive high: Set and setting! Good music, usually chill or slow music works. Good lighting. If you prefer a well lit room, turn on lights/open windows. If you like dark, cut the lights off! Swim likes to alternate for fun. Smoke somewhere you feel comfortable, and safe. Someone you know you can be "you" as cheesy as that sounds. Have some food ready if you are a munchie person. Healthy food will have a good effect here. Eating junk can send one into a depression or bad mood. Def. happens to Swim. Have your entertainment lined out, be it movies, tv, video games, or a trip. Plan out your high so you won't get interrupted or disturbed or anything. Swim feels you on the "bud" thing, that you don't have many choices. Asking a dealer for sativa/indica is not going to help. Most dealers will say whatever you want to hear to get a sale. Most dealers and smokers don't even know the difference. Ask dealers if they have anything else, anything different or "exotic". Asking around. Try different dealers. Not everyone sells the same stuff. Once, Swim found some good, noncouchlock, non sedated very mental high Mids once being sold as regs. It was good stuff too! Just randomly, the dealer got 5 pounds of it. It took him a while to realize it was good stuff and mark the price WAY up, and not selling anything bigger than single-serving size bags. When Swiy finds some good pot, buy a lot! Stock up! You'll wish you did later. Swim always does... Make sure there are no direct issues bothering you, like a fear or worry. Try to quell or accept whatever issues BEFORE you smoke. Also, try different methods of smoking. Try eating it! Eating vs Smoking is def. a different high. If the weed is putting you to sleep, try caffeine. I know smokers who SWEAR by mixing pot and coffee/lotsa soda. Just try different things! You'll find a sweet method and things that work for you. For Swim, the dream was this: Smoking pot in his old apartment, with his best friend who also smokes, watching Adult Swim on cartoon network, with some GOOD munchies close by, and a movie on standy incase things get boring. Smoking in the evening/nightime. Going to bed stoned was a MUST. Great sleep. Swim would turn off his phone and make sure his then girlfriend was asleep (she hated him for smoking, called him an addict) |
