Codeine 'Hang Over'

Ok heres the background. Someone who isnt you had a real good time last night. You took some codeine and got a reasonable buzz from it, Good times.

And so comes the next morning, you feel slightly numb as you did the night before except you have this sick nauseating feeling in your stomach. Its the codeine hang over.

If SWIY had this hang over is there any such methods you could use to counter this hang over? And by saying 'not taking it in the first place' I dont call that a valid answer .

Strange, Swim has never gotten this before. Would Swiy mind describing the effects in full detail?

Re: Codeine 'Hang Over'

So no one ever has that groggy feeling after a night of codeine? It just feels like you've taken too much codeine than you can handle. Think alcohol but replace it with codeine. But you dont feel as bloated you just have this nauseating sickness an feel a little numb and a tad bit slower. Sometimes if its real bad you just wanna stay in bed all day, you cant eat or drink other wise it will feel worse. But thats worse case scenario.

My dalek was just interested if any one else experiences this and if they had methods of ... literally a hang over cure for codeine. My dalek goes to the gym alot usually after a night of codeine, he wakes up groggy and a bit nauseated. He tries drinking some redbull for a caffine boost, while the caffine wakes him up he still feels a bit sick, he wondered if someone had more insight biochemically or otherwise.

Cheers for your reply

Re: Codeine 'Hang Over'

The only hangover Swim gets from any opioids is that in the next morning, or after the high is over really, Swim can get nauseous, or have bad vomiting for a short time. Uncontrollable vomiting too. Swim'll nod all night only to get up and puke. This happened with tramadol all the time; rarely anything else.

SWIM told me they feel a little fuzzy headed when they wake up the next morning but no nausea and certainly not as bad as a hangover.

Re: Codeine 'Hang Over'

swim understands. only happens when swim takes like 300 mg... swim cold water extracted 10 t3s, and puked. swim thinks people see codeine as something that's not as potent as other opioids, so they ingest a lot more than they should, and pay the price the next day.

Re: Codeine 'Hang Over'

When SWIM first saw this thread, he had very rarely gone above 140mg of codeine, so he had absolutely no idea what SWIY was talking about.
But about 6 hours ago, swim
decided to try a higher dose (~200mg) and he knows EXACTLY what swiy's talking about now.
There are some differences though:
1-He's not a little numb, he's REALLY numb, as if under the influence right now (he might be)
2-More of a comedown than a hangover (since he just came down like 1 or 2 hours ago)
3-other than the nausea he also feels pain in random places at random times (not very strong pain, but anoying enough).

Swim does codeine only once or twice every 3-4 days so he has very little tolerance and no physical addiction to it.The cure? well, if the nausea bothers you so much you could take a tablet or two of metaclopramide (primperan) and that should fix it.

Re: Codeine 'Hang Over'

yea swim thinks tramadol can actually give a bitchin hangover. pukin and a reaaaaaly tired feeling all day. other than that, most opiods mite give nasuae as swiyfiveleggedrat mentioned or leave swim a bit groggy. the only other negative is after a HIGH dose he occasionaly has a millld fever the next day.

Re: Codeine 'Hang Over'

Phaze has only had what is described above when he has overdosed, then his face gets really hot, time starts moving really slow and he has uncontrollable vomitting. After he vomits enough he usually returns to base, or can enjoy the rest of his high.

For any hangover phaze uses weed. It is very strong weed and cures his hangover instantly. Though if you are still high on codiene it could actually intensify the effects and make it worse, but usually for phaze when he intensifies the effects it doesn't make it worse it just makes him very sleepy, which is a good thing.

Re: Codeine 'Hang Over'

Swim can empathise with others. Swim always wakes hung over. Sick, tired and depressed. Best cure so far is to stay in bed. Next cure is to drink plenty of water and just try to get on with the day. Not very helpful i know but you got to take the good with the bad Swim says.

Re: Codeine 'Hang Over'

I say stop taking it, but Jock just slapped the back of my head.
Mutt, appears to be quite happily hungover, it just appears to be a dull humming headache, kind a scentless fart stuck in the mind.

Is there anything they did for a cure? Take more, or just deal with it.. You could even try some gut-rot from previous filterings.

The reason swim asked both swiys in previous post about smoking was "NICOTINE" can sometimes help the "hang over effect"???????
This could be bullshit of course but may warrant a try,Maybe nicotine gum could be used "AFTER" ones fun has finished,Also make sure some food is eaten "AFTER" and drink at least 1pt-2pts of water BEFORE ,DURING AND AFTER ones experiments..

Re: Codeine 'Hang Over'

New to taking Dihydrocodiene 30mg 6-8 tablets a day but have been on 30/500 Co-codamol for 2 years & then Paramol, Solpadiene & Feminax for 19 years. Swim has done a larger dose of her DHC, GFJ & Tums just to see if swim can gain a longer more relaxed relief from her pain, which she has! But swim has felt nothing the next day. No "codiene hangover".

I hope someone has helped you out! The only thing swim would say is to not go cold turkey! Swiy are feeling that shit now because swiy have no codiene in your body. How were/are swiy getting your codiene anyway? If from a doc's, confess & get him to help you come down gradually. If swiy buys OTC drugs then swiy will need to do it gradually yourself. If swiy feels that swiy can't trust yourself get a friend or family member to help swiy by giving you a set amount per day.
Swim went to Florida on holiday some years back & swim thought swim would be able to buy codiene/paracetamol tablets there, swim could'nt so swim had a horrible time with pain, needing the bathroom, not being able to eat without feeling/being sick. But swim did find something that helped me in the last few days. It was Miradol, it's for period pains & whatever shit was in it helped swim until swim got home. At the moment swim is on 8 X 30mg Dihydrocodiene & 1 X 2mg Diazepam per day. Swim drinks GFJ & takes the Tums. But swim has nearly run out of her meds but swim's script is not due until a week on Friday. Swim will be a bit buggered but swim can just about control the pain by taking Paramol but swim does need to take more than the 8 a day tablets!
Swim also smokes weed which helps swim's comdition so swim also has the extra benefit of that.

Swim really hopes swiy is ok & is getting some good help & advice.

Take care dude!

Try taking loperamide (immodium) as most of you already know it's an opioid that does not cross the blood brain barrier so it doesn't have effects on the brain, but a lot of people say it helps a lot with withdrawal.

SWIM did not believe tram had any sort of narcotic in it?
SWIM IV'ed 3 20mg Oxy last night, 1 went to wifey ( yep, married ) then 'moked dank till SWIMs eye balls felt as if they were bleeding, then sleep.................
woke up to SWIMs boy callin saying he had 10 Tylenol 3's. for swimmy
so, codeine hangover cure? try drinking plenty of water if not dealing with constipation throughout SWIYs dose. like LOTS of water, like 10 glasses over 6-7 hours. it'd be this swims idea that if SWIYs were to keep peeing that nothing is going to cont. to stay stagnant in said system, cleaning the liver, kydneys ect.... & hopefully on awakening from that nights slumber feeling clean & a bit foggy
