Exclamation The 2008 UK Psilocybe Semilanceata (Liberty Cap) Hunting Thread

So SWIMs been checking his usual area now everyday for the last 3 weeks and there has been some popping up but no-where near as many as there was last year? not even like 1% compared with last year?

Is the season about to finish with this cold weather or is there still a chance of some good shroom weather coming? the shrooms SWIM found over the last couple of days look like the ones you normally see just at the beginning on the season, really nice so it looked promising. But then the weathers changed and SWIM only found one lib this morning.

WTF has happened, or is SWIM being paranoid and can expect his crop to come up properly as usual? Last year the main three days of bulk shrooms was around 1st - 3rd oct.

Re: So much for this years "bumper crop" UK

SWIM lives in the sub-tropics and the stomping grounds always change year to year. SWIM has only dung loving species here so the variable is mostly where the cows were in August. Cows+shady grove of trees+low area in the grazing field are always high on SWIMS watch list. SWIM sees cows grazing in a field that has zero shade? That field is avoided because the full Summer sun makes for no moisture turds hard as bricks.

SWIM can only say that tracking the heavy fruiting areas found in the Fall again in the Spring is a smart move. SWIM finds last year's Fall is usually next year's Fall walk in a field with nothing to show for it.

SWIM has no wood or grass species here so the hunt is always extremely dynamic.

Re: So much for this years "bumper crop" UK

libs are completely different in the uk.

Can anyone in the UK tell SWIM if the season has peaked yet in their area? havent seen as many threads as I would expect to see if it had, but then again the weather is getting too cold and it feels too late for it????

Re: So much for this years "bumper crop" UK

Where SWIM lives the season is looking a bit of a non-starter as well. He knows of various people who have found them but not in huge numbers and now it's getting bloody cold as well.

SWIM blames the competition; it feels like he's fighting all the hippies, townies, skaters, students and dealers in his area for very limited number of shrooms. Everybody wants them.

Na man something is deffinently amiss? never seen such a bad season.

Its the bloody chemtrails spreading fungicides throughout the land to suppress the shroomers from sane thought for a while LOL. I hope not anyway.

its official, the season was a wash out, it barely even began!? WTF happened?

Kittlings, the Season isn't over until the ground frost stings. one thing that has been missing from the equation is a goodly amount of summer sun & thunder. Two things, two things that have been missing from the equation. There's a reason they call 'em Boomers ya know.

It was never going to be a great season given the missing denominators, but it aint over yet. There have been reports in recent years of Liberty Caps being found well into December in some places.

Patience kittlings, patience.

Agree bennet really dissapointing, though swim has heard of some people getting thousands but not for swim and his friends. One friend got around 200 swim got 13 the other day But swim has seen shrooms in late november and after yesterdays rain and todays sun hopefully itll happen this week as swim and his friends will be going out into the country to hopeful;ly get the thousands we need!

So is questioning whether or not the holocaust really happened, SWIM has little respect for modern day law in its entirety.... SWIMs activities are never done on his own property anyways so SWIM has little to fear.

bennett211085 added 15 Minutes and 5 Seconds later...

This old bloke SWIM met last year when he was out picking said that the main picking season has something to do with the moon? is this true?

He was completely insane by the way and SWIM actually remembers thinking he was going to try and kill SWIM at one point so SWIM got in his van and went home. He kept ranting on about how women are evil and SWIM kept asking him what he was holding in his jacket (looked like he was holding an axe in his jacket) he said it was cause he done his back in.... Really scares me even now thinking about that situation lol

bennett211085 added 4 Minutes and 21 Seconds later...

Now whenever SWIM goes out picking he takes his brothers brass knuckles with him out of paranioa

The main spot SWIM uses is a massive section of land on the mores that is like 50% grass, 50% reeds. This area is apparently his spot that he had been using for years, SWIM had been on it the year before and not seen him. Last year SWIM saw him on about 4 separate occasions. One of things he kept going on about was how women castrated men or bulls or something, it was really disturbing. He also kept trying to tell SWIM hes picking the wrong mushrooms lol, trying to tell SWIM to pick the dodgy white ones!? Was mental.

Re: So much for this years "bumper crop" UK

I ony ten, that is a big shame. Swim was going to attempt to check his spot tommorow.
Its not that local unfortunately.
Your correct about spraying crops has a a hit, but their is plenty of set a side land in the uk at the moment.

Swim knows of people who found 500 within half an hr about a week ago. So, they are about in places.
Swim is looking for some Aminitas aswell, hopefully he will be lucky.

SWIM's never taken liberties before (so to speak ), only the much bigger cultivated P. cubensis, so roughly how many would one need for a decent dose? SWIM's guessing a couple of hundred, they're pretty tiny after all.

Remember that size varies greatly (as can potency), but 20-40 fresh is probably a reasonable first attempt for curious quadrapeds.

If dried, the hungry sheep are looking at 1-2g.

Start lower, SWIY can always work your way up, but SWIY can't go back once started along the spangly road.

Whoah, thanks for the advice SIWyou guys, that could save SWIM getting into a sticky situation should he get lucky this year.

Having said that, SWIM feels to some extent he's 'done' psilocybin and would prefer to have a crack at a proper fly agaric experience this autumn.
