Paraphernalia - Why do "shotties" get swim alot more stoned.

Swim used to smoke bowls pipes and spliffs but has never found a way that it is more efficiant with swims weed and it get's swim more high, also the feeling of "ripping a shottie" just feels so much more pleasent.

Does anyone else find shotties like this, I don't know what it is but its seems all swim's friend's seem to prefer it too, swim also finds that the hit is less harsh than from a cone or pipe..

If anyone doesn't know what a shottie it is taking the bowl of your bong rolling a ball of tobacco and placing it into the tube then dabbing the tube into the cut up weed until swim has a nice shottie loaded then places the tube back in the bong lights it sucks slowly until full with smoke then sucks hard so that the tobacco ball and the weed shoot back into the water.

swim doesn't really know why he prefers the shottie but for some reason it get's people very stoned. I would think it's a waste but you can have 4 shotties for what swiy would put in 4 bowls.

So the concept is to take a bowl, pack it with tobacco on the bottom, put weed on the top of the tobacco and finish the bowl in 2 hits? Phaze couldn't imagine smoking tobacco out of a bong. He always thought it was funny they were even sold as tobacco pipes. Also he thought in europe they only added tobacco to spliffs and has never heard of anyone smoking tobacco out of a bong, closest thing being catnip.

Phaze said he had heard the term shottie before, and also thought this was europes slang for a shotgun, which would be to take a blunt and put the lit end in the mouth, and blow smoke into another persons mouth, and this does seem to be very effective.

Has anyone else heard of the OP's cocktail before?

I would normally agree that weed is better without tobacco but this way of doing just seems to be so perfect (apart from the taste not being quite as nice) you actually burn very little of the bacci

swims and friends used to smoke 'chop or spin' when younger...which is pre-rolled tobacco + marijuana all cut up together and then smoked in 1 toke through a bong...it rips people,esp those not used to it...has been known to make few newbees throw upat partys...

yes this does make a few noobs whitey too, a lot of people I know have actually switched from bowls to shotties, If anybody has experienced a shottie or tries it swim would be intrested to know.

Maybe it hasn't been desccribed well enough.

swim says :when you have a bong (not one with a glass tube) you,

1)unscrew the bowl from the tube you then take rolling tobacco (as straight tobacco is far too dry and falls straight through)

2) roll it up into a ball so it fits into the tube not so tight it get's stuck but not so loose it falls through (may take a few attempts to get it right)

3)you then take your finely crumbled hash or well cut/ground grass and cover top of the tobacco with your herb so none of the tobacco shows.

4)You then light it and suck slowly you keep sucking until the tobacco and weed start to slip down the tube then suck hard the tobacco and weed will go back into the water letting the air in so the smoke goes back into your lungs.

It may sound odd but it's a completely different hit than from a "normal" bong and a very distinctive one try smoking like this for a night and it will get you really caned,

Btw burn very little of the bacci if done right.

This wouldn't work well with a diffuser, About the only thing it would work with is a acrylic straight pipe. The cheapo bongs. And it doesn't seem efficient, sucking the weed down into the water is a waste. Aswell as dirty. Why would this get you any higher than a regular bowl? Does swiy have a nice slider bowl bong?

SWIM smokes "shotties" or "snaps" by just using a screen and loading in one hit at a time. Therefore, there is no more cherry burning to waste the product, and it's held in as long as possible afterwards. That's how the method would conserve it.

SWIM used to live off shotties when SWIM was younger. SWIM couldnt go to school or work without first having 5-6 shotties. SWIM tends to think you defo get more stoned for your money. They are also really awesome if your pilling your nuts off.

That would not work aswell as a shotty.
Arent their chemicals in tobacoo that let nicotine into your system quicker and easier, maybe this is the same for thc.
I know when smoking shottys you dont burn much tobacco, but some does get burnt, swim smokes alot of them.

when the hit has burned near 100% it is pulled through into the water and a new one is loaded for the next toke.... after 10 or so the water is replaced (and the piece eventually cleaned not long afterward)

Ok SWIM remembers one really weird thing about toot water. That is that he prefered it once it had had a few toots put through it already, but not so it was like brown/black stage. And he hated it when he was out and about and had to use fizzy drink, or lager as the water.. anyone else find that.

swim remembers very well the days he used to hang around the local park smoking shotties and drinking cider and had to use all sorts in his bong cola, lager, lemonade vodka, swim must say vodka is by far the worst.

Swim prefers the water fresh to anything but it's still nice after a few scoobs one thing swim hates is shottie water or "sid" so fucking much it stinks so bad, fortunatly swim keeps his bong obsessively clean, swim has moved up in the world no more bottles any more, shotties in a proper bong all the way.

I have heard of these being used in the UK before and a lot of people who can't afford vapourisers etc swear by them as being highley effective at getting you high. For those still confused about what a shottie is, the following is a how to guide I lifted from another site:

HOW TO MAKE A SHOTTIE
The ideal size for a shottie bottle is around about half a litre, handy as Coke and many other soft drinks come in this size. A larger bottle can be used, although it must be sturdy, due to the suction forces involved in smoking a shottie. A hole is then made in the side of the bottle, about 1-2 inches from the base. This must be done with suitable skill and care, as it must be the perfect size to create a good seal when the tube is inserted.
A shottie tube is a metal tube about 3-4 inches in length. The crucial part of the tube is the internal diameter. This must be very slightly larger then the diameter of a cigarette due to the way in which a shottie is smoked. If one's need for a shottie is desperate (quite possible) then a passable tube can be made from a cut and rolled up section of tin/aluminium etc. from a soft drink or beer can. If you want to make a good job of your whole shottie experience though, the ideal tube comes from a car tyre pressure gauge, the type that are basically comprised of, believe it or not, a metal tube with the diameter of a cigarette.
Once the tube and bottle are ready, the bottle is filled with water just up to the level of the bottom of the hole. It is a bad idea to overfill because then the water will leak, and shottie water is probably the nastiest smell in the world. When the tube is inserted into the hole, it sould be at an approximately 45 degree angle to the bottle. In order to keep the tube in place, and help create an air tight seal, plastic insulation tape should be wrapped around the tube
OK, so you've made the tube, and the bottle, now comes the time to make, or rig your shottie. Both solid and green forms of marijuana can be used, but it is probably best suited to resin. First of all take a cigarette and insert a VERY small length into one end of the tube (I'm talking 1 or 2 millimetres here). Then take the end with the tobacco in it and dab it into your substance (should be finely powdered and preferably in a bowl). Any number of dabs (or stabs) can be made, which alters the strength of the shottie. A good amount is three of four good dabs.
You should then have the tube rigged like this:

Put the tube in the bottle through the hole in the side. The end of the tube must be submerged in the water, in order to cool the smoke.
HOW TO SMOKE IT
Hold a lighter flame to the pot at the end of the tube, while sucking HARD in the neck of the bottle. Because the tube is sealed, very little air will flow through the bottle, but this means that the tobacco/resin wad gets very hot, while the bottle chamber gets filled with a very think and creamy tobacco/cannabis smoke. Obviously, when something burns, it turns to ash, and once your gear has burnt up, it disintegrates, breaking the plug and the air seal, and causing the burning lump of ash to shoot down the pipe into the water, in turn the sudden pressure release forces the smoke into your lungs at high speed, resulting in a very harsh and nasty tasting hit. This is known as popping the shottie. A very important point to note is to suck it hard. If you fail to pop your shottie it tastes even worse. Its very much an all or nothing situation. What makes this superior to a standard bong is that it is an automated process, ie. as soon as all your stuff has been smoked, it automatically shoots the smoke into your lungs, hence resulting in a perfect hit every time.
WHAT'S THE POINT
If you have any sense, you're probably asking why anyone would bother with such a nasty, dirty and harsh method...actually its obvious - It gets you incredibly stoned incredibly quickly. It's definitely an acquired taste, its so harsh and rank tasting that its an effort to smoke, but once you've mastered the skill of shotties, you'll never look back.

I have heard the same claim several times about never going back to Js or bongs after getting into shotties, so I imagine there is some truth in it.

Woah, the simple explanation is this: Get an old car ariel, take the biggest section off, burn a small hole in a bottle half way up, shove the pipe through nice and tight, fill with water.

If you have a bong already, just take the bowl off the pipe lol.

I wouldn't recommend smoking out of a car antenna. Metal, and completely not intended for that use. Though many times over has phaze seen people make crack pipes out of them, those who are concerned with health shouldn't use it.

Possibly the reason it gets one higher, is because the weed is sitting in the downpipe, with other resin. Otherwise it's completely illogical, the only way to obtain a stronger buzz would be to have a higher concentration of cannabinoids in the smoke, or a higher concentration of smoke. Possibly, in some bongs cutting down on surface area makes a difference.

Another possibility is, since alot of the swiys are using bongs like mentioned above were the bowl screws onto the bong and no slider carb is available using a shottie would be the same as a slider carb when the weed is sucked into the water with force, cutting off the source of smoke completely and rushing the smoke out of the bong with no delay for extra cannabinoids to drop. Bongs with slider carbs do get phaze higher because they clear at a faster rate.
