Dreaming and lack there of

Sorry i don't know where else to post.
In the last 5ish years i have never had or remembered having a dream, however in the last 3 days everyday i've dreamt, now i can only remember 1 (fairly) clearly but that's due too my terrible short term memory, and i rememberd them as soon as i woke. DO u have ANY ideas what has or could have caused/activated this. THX

The only times I can remember my dreams is when:
A) I wake up early and fall asleep again
B) I've taken GHB OR GBL the night before

Yeah there's nothing like a good dose of deep sleep to promote REM sleep.
Often my dreams are variations on a theme. The most recent theme is of starting off in a familiar landscape with my house just about in view, I walk towards the house but as I do so the landscape gets stranger and stranger and there are many distractions like religious grottos on the way. After I've investigated the distractions I continue on my way and sometimes get a glimpse of my house but I never seem to get any nearer.
Another one is that I commit a crime like a murder or stealing a lorry. When I realise what I have done I dump the evidence and go home to await the knock on the door but it never comes.Sometimes I go back to check that the lorry/body is still where I left it and it always is, it's as if nobody ever noticed them missing.Edited by: sauvage

The reason you remember your dreams is because you wake up right after or during an REM stage. During REM sleep most of the time youre having dreams but you usually cant remember them. A way to be able to remember you dreams is to have someone wake you up during REM sleep. REM sleep occurs about every 90 minutes or so, and you can have someone tell if youre in it by looking for eye twitches...if you want to be more precise the person can put a finger to the outside of the eye where the outer side of the eye socket is and the person can feel for movements. If the person does feel movements then they should wake you up fairly quickly and you should remember your dream. Most of the night consists of dreams but you only remember the ones you wake up in the middle of, thats a fact....thats why if you have spicy food you remember your dreams more and you know you have them...the reason for that fact is because spicy foods toil with the natural sleep cycle (circadian rythym) and you wake up every now and again while having this food in your system. If youre really interested in dreams id recommend a book by sigmund frued, the father of psychology, its called Dreams: The Highway To Unconsciousness; or something like that. Well, i hope this was informative....peace.

i'm still dreamin everyday. The most profound dream was..Me an lil sis was walkin on a roadside, i saw a lorry with the back open, inside the lorry was a really vicious dog wit a muzzle keepin it in the lorry. I yelled to my sis to climb ova a nearby high fence cus i thought the muzzle was gonna slip n the dog wld attak us. I was right, we both got over fence, than dog climbed fence, i (protectin my sis) got bit in the leg, then woke. i think it's cuzz my sis had a really bad 3 day skool trip that she really really hated n wanted to go home all the time (in the slums of paris and everythin went wrong ect) and i couldn't help or protect her.
Thats the only dream i remember clearly

I think in your mind you feel like your sister is going to go through more troble and you think you might not be able to protect her. I know id die for my sister. Its a powerful felling to want to protect your sister and its coming out in your dreams. You dont want to be in a situation were you wont be able the pretect her...

i know a little bit about dream analysis from psychology studies in college... most of the time animals in our dreams are traits about ourselves and are typically bad traits that we dont like about ourselves..... being that it was your little sister that is difficult to interpret... children usually represent new situations in our life or opportunities... going by the two things described one could easily interpret your dream asyou worry about a bad habbit of yours (hmm i notice you are on the same forum as i am...drug use?) is hurting you (dog bit your leg) and possibly your family or any future opportunities you may have

The easiest way that I remember my dreams is to keep a dream journal. Just keep a notebook (opened to the page you'll be writing) and a pen near your bed. Keep everything close and ready to use. The instant you awaken write down everything. Don't worry about grammar or punctuation. Just keep writing. I don't remember alot of my dreams either but if I know I have a pen and paper near and remind myself to keep an accurate account ofmy subconcious visualizations and feelings, then itmakes it easier to remember everything.

Yea, when you write your dreams down, you can incorporate them into
your long term memory. A dream is basically your brain thinking about
your life without being rational or logical.

If I remember my dreams, they usually give me some valuable advice I can use in my actual life.

But what really makes me think is when i discover im dreaming as it
happens (Lucid dreaming), thus being able to dictate it to my liking.
Not only that but if while im dreaming and i know, i ask people
questions and try to interpret things its as if my conscious brain is
learning from my subconscious brain. Which seems close to the way drugs
make me think differently about things, so can my dreams.

Dreams are worth being remembered and researching if you have the time.

Dreams keep coming and coming.

One thing is for sure, I dreamed last night. I do not remember what my dreams were about. I do not care what they were about. I am just happy that I get some REM sleep once in a while.

Dogs dream too. They dream every day. I don't knowif they usually remember their dreams, but BOY, they can look like they are having Fun dreams.

Most of the dreams I remember occur just before I wake up. I am having an intense time (frequently scary or embarassing). Instead of continuing to sleep through that stress, I wake myself up. Then (If I think carefully) I can remember part of it; usually though, I would just as soon forget it (and so I do). Then, I take a quick trip to the bathroom . . . and, by the time I get back to bed, that dream has faded away (Whew!).

A Trick to remember more dreams: When you wake up, remain still. If you turn your head around, it will change the blood-flow in your brain, just enough to lose the dream. The REVERSE can also work, if you are remembering a dream (and DON'T want to), roll-over . . . and the dream will just fade away.Edited by: Solidly-here
