Tolerance - Hydrocodone tolerance

Swim has been taking hydrocodone 1-3 times a week for the past 2 months. At first even doses as low as 5mg were pleasant for Swim, and 10mg was very nice. Swim definitely has a tolerance now, and 10mg doesnt do nearly as much - it feels like 5mg used to - and 20mg now feels like 10mg used to. Swim's rule is to always wait at least 48 hours before taking again. (No back-to-back days of use.) Swim thought this rule would be sufficient to prevent tolerance but it keeps getting worse. On the upside, itchiness has mostly gone away completely - though that may have something to do with Swim's daily 10mg loratadine allergy medication.)

Swim's question is, how long should Swim put between doses to achieve a lower tolerance?

Swim would say no more than once weekly.

Also, expect to develop a mental tolerance that likely won't go away. The days of 5mg and 10mg effects are short.

Swim went from 20mg to 100mg hydrocodone just from mental effects, even using monthly.

SWIM developed a 100mg+ tolerance after about 2 weeks of polysubstance use, and if had only been using hydrocodone probably could have developed it in about a week.

Either BS or that sucks. SWIM has been doing opiates for over a year now and managed to maintain a 20-30mg range. Many times swim does opiates back to back daily or every other day and takes a few week breaks inbetween, allowing swim to maintain original tolerance.

So unless you redose like 5 times in one day for a week I doubt you could get that tolerance.

Oh SWIM does re-dose. SWIM has moved up to an 80mg oxycodone tolerance just recently from 4 days of consecutive use. SWIM was just giving and example of how quickly tolerance can develop if SWIY uses a lot.

swim on the other hand maintained the same (30-75mg) oxycodone tolerance for about 6 months...then again those were his first 6 months

Tolerance happens at different rates in everyone. Swim used twice this week and DEF notices that the second time was a good bit weaker.

In some people, physical Addiction can happen from using a drug for 3 days. How can tolerance not?
