Pharmacy dispensing Laws (Oxy)
halo all
ive got a bit of a problem and im looking for answers, i live in new zealand so the laws maybe different than other countries however, For months and months and months now my Doctor has been prescribing Oxycontin to me, One month at a time, i live in a small town with only one chemist ![]() My Chemist chooses to only give me 10 days supply at a time, so 2 repeats within a month, Well its just a total pain in the ass so i spoke to my GP and said i wanted one months worth in one pickup, She phoned the chemist and they gave me my full month's worth, now the chemist is doing the 10 day thing again, they refuse to give me the meds on day 8 or day 9, Even tho the doctor has not written any of that information on the prescription, Is there a law the chemist is following with the 10day at a time? or do i have some kind of rights to choose if i want 10 day or a full month? It is extremely difficult to get ahold of my doctor via telephone or i would just get her to tell the chemist again, but im here seeking any knowldge if anyone has some to throw my way |

Re: Pharmacy dispensing Laws (Oxy)
wow that sucks. i understand the logic behind it.. but still, what a prick
sry swim has no knowledge on this although he worked at a pharmacy (mail order) and has never seen 10 day supplies distributed. it can be said (to chemist) that more of the med is needed at once due to lacking means of transportation to come weekly / trips away from home, etc. even if swiy has to make something up...remember swiYOU are not breaking any law by getting your 30 day supply all at once...with that said, get creative swim on |

Re: Pharmacy dispensing Laws (Oxy)
Swim is getting very tired of encountering self-righteous, anti-drug pharmacists. Usually, the same ones are completely dumb and ignorant about pharmacology and physiology. They have no clue how most drugs work, much less drug interactions.
Swim has to police his whole family's prescriptions because the idiots often give them things that will interact and do not note it. This also goes back to the original medical person prescribing it as well. On other forums with less focus on recreational use, some pharmacists come on and are like "yeah I called their doctor and reported person for XXXXX" or "I refuse to fill their prescription if they appear to only want it to abuse" and such. As if we don't have enough medical workers with a god complex. |

Re: Pharmacy dispensing Laws (Oxy)
Hi w!se and fiveleggedrat
thanks for the responces, Swiy is so very correct, Swim is up against the God Complex. Swim is just sick and tired of having to deal with these people everyweek, The excuse of the chemist today told swim that, sometimes not everyone needs all there pain relief, so we only order 10 days at a time, Swim asked than if the chemist disagreed with what swims doctor has prescribed? Swim was met with a cold stare, and told to come back in 2 days to pick up swims meds. I guess Swim posted this out of pure frustration today, swim needed to vent some anger, from now on swim will make sure the doctor writes on the script to dispense at once, so swim will have every legal right to collect his meds as prescribed |

Re: Pharmacy dispensing Laws (Oxy)
Tell them that if it is a supply problem then get them to order the medication in advance, tell them that it's a monthly prescription that will be continuing for the foreseeable future. Tell them that going to the chemist 3 times a month is just not an option (3 times including the initial hand in of the prescription) and that it's highly inconvenient and is aggravating the very thing that you get the medication for. If there are still problems then you need to get the doctor to tell them to start supplying a monthly prescription per their instructions.
This thing about not giving you the rest on day 8 or 9, i imagine the guidelines or law will be behind the chemist on this one since they know you have a 10 day supply initially. |
