Psychedelics in recovery.

Hello every swiy in recovery.

Swim has been wanting to start this thread for a while as it is fascinating to him.

What are swiys opinions on using psychedelics occasionally while in recovery.
Recovery for this thread will be defined as not using any truly mind altering substances, heroin, alcohol, benzos, unless prescribed and taken as prescribed.
psychedelics such as 2c-e, dob, lsd, mushrooms, mescaline. etc.

Also if anyswiy can bring some links to recovery based organizations that use psychdelics occasionally but refrain all other drugs please post here.

Swim is not talking about the use of ibogain to initially kick the drug, this has been explored enough on this forum..

Expirences would be nice.

Also personal opinions on what substance might be the best for this situation.

Swims personal opinion on this matter is that it could be a great thing.. But he is afraid to try it untill he gets some more time under his belt...
He thinks that a little bit of mescaline probably would not be harmful to swim.

I suppose the question is, and swiy has to be honest with swiyself, is why is swy taking them?

Is it to escape?
to feel something, anything instantly? Does swiy want instant gratification?

or does swiy honestly do it for a spiritual experience or for a means to progress in recovery?

Just remember, if swiy takes a psychedelic, he may be enlightened for a peak, but swiy will always come down...and if swiy has a problem with addictive behavior, he may want to rise back up, over and over again, to feel that fulfillment.

SWIM has almost 6 months now from his drug of choice heroin and has used several psychedelics in the past couple of months without any harm. SWIM has already discussed this with spare chaynge but feels like he should state his opinion in this post.

SWIM decided to use several psychedelics such as 2c-e, mushrooms, DOC, and 5-meo-dmt mostly as a spiritual tool. When he was caught up in his heroin addiction, he lost all closeness with his higher power(which is GOD) and basically had no respect for GOD since he believed GOD caused him to develop his heroin addiction. By using these substances, not only has he been able to control the psychedelic use, but he has also found almost a spiritual awakeneing and a new appreciation for GOD. SWIM hasn't used any psychedelics in couple of weeks but has found a better understanding of his life and has fully come to terms with his past and his addiction. For the most part, SWIM still is feeling very postitive about just about everything in his life and can see the future that it beholds. SWIM isn't trying to get religious on anyone but just thought that he would share his reason for occasional psychedelic use during recovery.

SWIM fully believes though that if one has an addictive personality, that they should proceed with caution if doing this for whatever reason that they want to use psychedelics. If they want to use them for a spiritual reason or to help them reveal something, then SWIM personally believes that they should go for it. On the other hand, if one wants to use them just for instant gratification cuz they are bored or want to get high then SWIM highly discourages this as this can lead back into addiction.

swim was also wondering about this. swim has wanted to take 2c-i, 2c-e or doc for a long time and was rather obsessed with researching them. now that swim has four years clean he is not sure he wants to do it anymore. swim asked himself why he wanted to take it and it wasnt for enlightenment of spiritual reasons, swim just honestly like to trip. so swim decided that it was best for him to stay clean all the way. although swim wishes that he could have tried a few more rc's but he knows everything happens for a reason and will find he happiness in his higher power(christ)
