300 pounds of pot delivered to auto parts store

Three people were charged today with Class A felonies in what is being called the largest marijuana bust in McDonald County history, said Sheriff Don Schlessman.

All three — who gave police Missouri addresses — face identical charges of trafficking in the first degree and were being held today in lieu of $75,000 bond.

The Southwest Missouri Drug Task Force seized about 300 pounds of marijuana after it was delivered to a Noel auto parts store on Saturday morning, authorities say.

The marijuana was in a box that identified it as brochures, Schlessman said, but the employee who was asked to sign for the packages would not until the employee knew for certain what was in the boxes.

It was then that the employee found the marijuana, estimated at nearly $500,000, and called the police.

“I’ve been in law enforcement since 1980, and that’s the biggest processed marijuana bust I’ve seen,” Schlessman said.

One of the suspects is an employee of the auto parts store, Schlessman said.

He named the three charged as Diego Martinez-Flores, 18, of Southwest City; Abraham Jasso, 22, of Noel; and Martin Moreno, 19, of Goodman.
