Overdose - suspected cheratussin or adderall overdose?

Okay so my friend took 2 20 mg extended release Adderall about 15 hours ago, and and about the same time he had 12 tsps (ROUGHLY 2 ounces) of. cheratussin (guaifenesin/codeine). My friend is relatively opiate tolerant, and has been taking Adderall for three days straight. Nothing over 40 mgs though! so, he doesn't think it's the adderall he's feeling weird off of... but he's experiencing

dry mouth, numbness (kind of, not horrible), cold/kind of clammy skin, slight slowness of breath, and his heart rate is weird, or at least it seems like it... it seems to beat faster at certain times, and normal at others. he feels slight confusion like he's on the brink of hallucinating, but he's been like this for 2 hours now, and no visual or auditory hallucinations, just a weird feeling. He says it's keeping him awake, he can't fall asleep in bed, yet he doesn't feel tired.


SWIM believes it's the cheratussin mostly, because this is his first syrup trial, and he puked a little bit much earlier. The only reason swim thinks the adderall might be involved is because they have pretty similar overdose side effects, and swim feels wired for some reason, and it's like 3:30 in the morning.

Additional info: swim started drinking some water thinking it was possible dehydration, and he's been urinating NON STOP!!! Swim's read that an overdose symptom of cheratussin is difficulty urinating... and he sure doesn't have that.

He feels like there's a clog in his throat kind of. He can swallow fine, and breath fine, but it just feels odd.

he also read you're not supposed to take things that inhibit the CYP2D6 receptor (in your liver, he believes) which he knows codeine does. could this create these side effects?

If this is an overdose, how long with these effects last? he has to wake up for school in 2 and a half hours, and does not want to be feeling all WEIRDDD all day.

How long has Swiy been awake? When was the last time Swiy got sleep?

Has Swiy been eating and keeping up with normal needs?

Effects you described sound more like sleep deprivation more than anything. If so, get some sleep! Even an hour or two is better than none. Swim knows sleep dep. and insomnia well.

Obviously, stop taking any more drugs past this point and sober up.

Non stop urination is from Adderall. Amphetamines do that.

We cant tell from what you listed how much codeine Swiy took. Not enough info. Posting that can help.

Consuming CYP2D6 inhibiting things just increase the halflife of drugs in Swiys body, opioid uses tend to try and manipulate this to their advantage. Can happen with other drugs as well.

If Swiy feels really bad, or worries a lot, seek medical attention. Dont let fear prevent medical attention.

If things are relatively mild and there aren't too many negatives, try to relax. From how it was described, it sound's mild and not like an overdose but rather negative side effects.

Combining opioids and amphetamines is generally a bad idea, if Swiy did not know that.

I think the weird feeling in swims throat is because it's swollen a bit.. another symptom of codeine overdose. Swim went got sleep last night, from 5:30 am to 10:30 am, and not that much on Friday night. Also, no swim has only eaten one meal each day, if that for the duration of the weekend.


obviously stupid decisions, but the adderall just diminishes swim's apetite, and keeps him wired, and unable to sleep.

3 Day amphetamine binges are not the best for one's body. Sounds like lack of nutrients, lack of sleep, stress, and speedball sideeffects. However, Swim is not a doctor, nor an expert on overdoses.

How is temp/blood pressure/pulse? Can Swiy give readings?

10 mg codeine per 5 ml.
so 12 teaspoons would mean that's only 120 mg of codeine, and swim used to take 5 30mg t3s frequently.

That does not sound like much. Good on that call. 120mg would only produce very strong effects in the opiate naive or those with abnormally low tolerances.

Like Swim said, this sounds a lot like speedball effects and other random negatives from etc.

swim's pulse is beating about normal now, or more normal than it seemed before, it was slowed quite a bit, or so swim thought. How does swim go about accurately reading his pulse?

Swim is kind of cold, but only because it's freezing in his room... and swim isn't sure how to read blood pressure.

Make sure not to overcompensate for being cold, as in, no crazy outfits or excessive blankets. Stay warm, but not hot. When ODing, lacking sleep, on drugs, etc, temperature feelings change very quickly. Easy to think one is colder or hotter, and compensate in the wrong way, and overheat or cool down too much. Using a thermometer is the best.

For reading pulse the old school way, google that. I have NEVER been able to properly do it. I use a portable home blood pressure machine that also reads pulse. They are GREAT for a drug user to have at home.

Swim understands how you feel, he had an OD on dirty ecstasy pills before, and the experience was absolutely terrifying. The dirty cut also caused negative mental effects, so panic attack + dirty pill = BAD! Swim overheated up to around 103F and had much higher than normal pulse and BP.

If pulse feels normal, chances are it is. One tends to know when there is something up with it.

If Swiy has any heart problems, to note, using any type of stimulant is highly advised against. Just tossing that out too.

I think the "hallucinations" swim thought he was going to have was possibly because it was Robitussin AC. I don't know if there's any dxm related component in Gauifenesin, so I'm not sure.

Swim has NEVER had heart problems, which is a part of why he proceeded to take the amphetamines for 3 days. He knows uppers and downers don't mix, which makes him a bit of a hypocrite, because yesterday he had 5 7.5 mg hydrocodone pills, and 2 20mg Adderall XR (but felt nothing like this).


do you have any ideas about the swelling of the throat? it just makes it a bit uncomfortable to swallow, like there's a lump in swim's throat or something. Any tips to make the swelling go down either?

Guaifenesin causes nausea and vomiting in high doses. That's it. Used to help with cough either with codeine or DXM usually.

If Swim's eating a lot of codeine and hydrocodone pills, make sure to CWE. All that APAP is bad for the liver.

Hmm, no ideas on swelling of the throat. Never had that from anything. Perhaps a physical display of Swim's anxiety? Google "somatoform disorder", this can happen temporarily in people. Not 100% it's whats up with Swiy.

swim did do a CWE for the vicodin last night. That'd be almost 4 grams of apap if I didn't!

Feel you on the class thing; Swim has to be leaving for class in less than 3 hours. It's an hour drive to quizzes/tests/homework he is not even remotely prepared for. Just like every school day

Good job on doing CWE. If Swiy feels like they are losing yields, make sure to prewet filters and run the refilter 2 or 3 times. Just wanted to say that. Sometimes people stop filtering because they feel like their dose is not acting like it should.

Well, I did end up falling asleep shortly after swim got off of here, and every symptom was gone when I woke up!
