Swim and stimulants

Hi all. A good friend of mine, around a month ago was rushed to hospital with a heart rate of 160-170 after an extremely large dose of amphetamine was accidently taken.
Doctors administered diazapam (unknown quantity) and the patient was slowly brought back down.

Swim layed off any sort of stimulants for a month to give his heart a rest.

A month later, swim consumed 100mg of MDMA in a club.
After four hours, the subject's heart rate was (estimated) at over 110bpm.

Shortly after this, my friend called an ambulance as he felt his heart was beating dangerously fast, the same way it had done a month ago when the amphetamine.
This time swim was taken to hospital and placed on a drip to maintain body fluid levels, and after four painful hours, his heart returned from 130-140bpm to a normal level.

Swim is deeply fond of MDMA, and unlike most of his peers, saves it for the most special of occasions only, taking it maybe 3 or four times a year.

Swim is now worried that MDMA, even in small doses, will trigger the same increased heart rate - Swim tells me that it never did this before, in the two years of use he has never experienced a racing heart until his accident with the amp.

Can anyone advise swim on whether it would ever be safe to take MDMA again?
Doctors were unhelpful in answering these sorts of questions, telling swim to never dabble in such substances ever again.

Many thanks.

Re: Swim and stimulants

If it is a psychological association to freak out with any type of stimulant, slowly dose up with the MDMA. Start at slow doses and work up to being comfortable. When Swim had freakouts with various drugs or drug types, dosing slowly solved the problem or allowed one to work on the problem.

Re: Swim and stimulants

Swim also believes it could be psychologically induced. If one starts to panic over the possibility that one's heart rate may be too high, his/her heart rate will just get higher. Even if it does not seem that swiy is panicking, swiy probably is. If swiy feels there is a reason to constantly monitor swiy's heart rate, there is some degree of panicking going on (especially since swiy recently had bad experience of a similar nature). Drugs could also affect the way one perceives a threat to one's health. Certain drugs may make a threat seem more/less immediate.

Swim does not recommend doing anything contrary to the advice of a doctor.

Re: Swim and stimulants

Swim fully believes now, that it must be a psychological problem. A tiny dose of mexican mushrooms sent swim off into a panic attack which sent his heart up to a scary rate again.

In fact swims heart is still behaving very strangely.

Re: Swim and stimulants

It is likely not a problem. When Swim OD'ed on something in a fake MDMA pill that had something close if not PMA, his heart felt like it was about 20-30 beats per minute higher for the next 3 days or so. And, taking pulse, it was. Swim usually has pulse 60, but it was 80-90 for that time, even when 100% sober and rested.
