Cannabis pharmacology.
I'm almost certain there has been data on this posted on the forum somewhere, but none of my searches came up with anything substantial.
Does anyone have any articles that give a complete picture of the method of action of cannabis? I know its particularly tricky, seeing as there are a whole slew of actives, so I suppose it might be useful to focus in on the two most often studied, delta-9 thc and cannabidiol. What I've been able to piece together is that activation of CB1 and/or 2, by 'mimicking' anandamide and other endogenous cannabinoids, triggers release of phenylethylamine, which acts on (at least) TAAR1, thereby increasing dopamine, nor-e. and serotonin. Of course, I know there's more going on here. I know this is a topic of pretty titanic proportions, but I thought it would be cool to get a thread going to try to compile what's known on the subject of cannabinoid pharmacology, perhaps for stickying purposes, as I feel this information ought to be easier to find than it is (unless, of course, I'm just a terrible researcher, in which case, just tell me to shut up and point me to where I can best get something answerish). |
