Dose - New to Adderall

Hi all. I'm new to the forums, and certainly new to the recreational use of adderall for performing-enhancing purposes. Err...my "friend" is new to this, I mean. To make a long story short, I've got some serious trouble concentrating on reading passages on standardized tests, and it is imperative that I improve my score. I'm about 150 pounds ~18 y/o, and I've never used adderall before. My friend gave me 10 mg, but I'm not quite sure how much I should take. Figure I'd need to be focused for four hours, or so.

Any thoughts?

Swim is confused... is it your friend doing the adderall? Surely you are not incriminating yourself, so swim will assume your post is riddled with typos.

10mg is enough to feel it pretty good for one who's not tolerant. Swiy shouldn't EVER go past 60mg, EVER, and that's ONLY if swiy has some tolerance and a good heart (good blood pressure, no cholesterol problems, no diabetis or blood sugar problems, etc)

Swim believes this is too much for a first timer. 25 mg in swim's opinion would get a first time user "high." The OP mentioned that they want to use the drug to concentrate. 25 mg for a first dose would go beyond the necessary dosage to increase concentration. Swim would start around 10 mg.

Just don't let them give swiy Straterra...I've heard nothing but bad about it. Plus it's supposed to increase suicidal thoughts or something like that.

In swims experience 10-20 mg helps him concentrate and work for hours on end. However at 30 mg's or above swim tends to waste hours on pointless activities. Simply put, if swiy is feeling very euphoric he is probably past the performance enhancing dose.

really? SWIM was prescribed 70mg several years ago with the IR addies and then was changed to one 30mg xr in AM, one 30mg XR in in afternoon and then a 20mg late afternoon early evening per day but this was back when SWIM was in college and had class early in AM and studying at night...SWIM felt like this was a lot of adderall to be on but it was very effective

I had always found that adderall changed me. Made me mean, angry, almost completely filled with rage. And I never much liked it
-For Reference Sake I have ADHD And I was prescribed adderall and did not take more then is said. I had all these effects at the told does the doctor gave me.

Swim is prescribed to 40mg of instant release a day. He hates the stuff but when he uses it for study purposes he uses 5 mg every 2 hours. He keeps an empty stomach and supplements his caloric intake with sugary drinks. Swim has taken 60 mg XR at once (his first time trying the stuff actually) and he was bouncing off the walls but the comedown was awful.

Point is adderall is relatively safe in larger doses if the subject is healthy, but if swiy needs to concentrate for 4 hours assuming the pill is instant release try taking 5 mg at first then 5 mg 2 hours in. Swiy shouldn't be "high" but should be able to concentrate and maintain motivation for the 4 hour period.

Swim took 10mg this past Saturday, and felt a slight change in mindset with an increased ability to focus. Not bad. Swim is taking the SATs for REAL this Saturday, and is considering a 20mg tablet.

Any thoughts?

Try 10 mg before the reading and 10 mg before the math section. That's assuming they are tablets, not capsules. Tablets are instant release. One thing Swim will warn swiy about is that while adderall tends to help with focus and motivation, taking it during a test sometimes makes him think he performed better than he actually did. This is the case with many of swim's friends too.

Fair enough. Swim's friend can only get swim a 20mg "pill"--not sure if it's a capsule or tablet. Swim is currently seeking two 10mg's, however.

Eh, it's not like taking a 20 won't get swiy doing well in school even if it gives euphoria. Tolerance builds fast, so it'll go away after a while and all swiy will have is the positive mental effects. Generally, for adult ADHD in the US, 20mg is the standard start out dose swim believes.

Is swiy aware that the 20 mg pills can be split in half? 20mg/2= 2 10mg pills. It's the same difference.

But how would one split them in half and still make sure the extended release works right? The pills are mixed amphetamines. The only way to be 100% sure swiy is getting an even high is by taking the whole thing at once.

Ahh, swim understands now he was referring to 20mg XR. Still, the beads can be crushed and then the powder can be split into two equal doses.

I'm just saying, although you'd get the same amount of 'amphetamine,' what's there to guarantee that the 2 different isomers of two different salts of amphetamine are split exactly evenly throughout the thing? I doubt it'd be that noticable, but there still might be a difference in its extended release. Maybe I'm wrong?

I'm pretty sure that all the beads contain the same balance of different amphetamine salts. But some beads are instant release, while some beads contain binding agents that are slower to digest so that those beads act as extended release.

Hmm. Well maybe swim will start snorting them again then lol. He didn't want to risk overdose by having different amounts in his system at unknown times... His tolerance(mentally...not sure about physical limitations, he's getting pretty close though) is somewhat high. It takes about 60mg orally to get a GOOD buzz anymore...which isn't the healthiest as he's not really sure about how high his blood pressure gets on adderall..
