Talking Advil? Ibuprofen has NO recreational effects!

When SWIM uses Advil in doses of 400mg or more, he goes into a very dreamy state, everything seems surreal, and time seems to go slow. SWIM only feels about 50% of what he normally feels.....he found this out because he was eating a hamburger and suddenly realized he could barely feel himself chewing.

Overall: fun, interesting. Not something you'd want to fly a plane on.

So, what SWIM is asking, could SWIM combine Advil with anything else to produce a nice high, and what potentates Advil.

Re: Advil?

The sort of side effects ibuprofen has never appealed to me:Common adverse effects include: nausea, dyspepsia, gastrointestinal ulceration/bleeding, raised liver enzymes, diarrhea, epistaxis, headache, dizziness, unexplained rash, salt and fluid retention, and hypertension.

This is a warning against frequent use, know the effects it could have on your body.

Re: Advil?

swim loves ibuprophans for pain when he needs it. Amazing drug when you have the flue or muscle pain. But you cant get high on the shit lol. Swim only takes the most effective dose needed.

How is this possible? Swim has never heard of psychoactive effects from an NSAID.

Re: Advil?

Sounds to me like SWIY must be allergic to Advil because those effects are in no way normal. At all

Re: Advil? Ibuprofen has NO recreational effects!

You need to do some serious research before doing these drugs. Know your body, know your mind, know your substance. Careless intake of drugs you have no knowledge about will only lead to negative effects down the road. (serious).

Re: Advil? Ibuprofen has NO recreational effects!

I used to take large doses of Ibu for its mild "numbing" and painkilling effects, which lead to gastritis and a trip to the ER. Now I take large doses once a month for menstrual cramps and worry what exceeding the recommended dose is doing to my poor kidneys, stomach and heart.

NSAIDs are far, far more dangerous than their OTC status lets on, so be careful. They can cause kidney failure in doses exceeding the daily intake levels, cardiac problems, stomach bleeding that "may be fatal" according to commercials, and many other serious problems. Health officials have been pushing for stronger warnings on the labels for years.

Re: Advil? Ibuprofen has NO recreational effects!

The contradictory title and original post confuse me, but it is the title that is correct. I'm not sure if this was a joke, or how much sarcasm was going on, but ibuprofen should in no way be used as a recreational drug. It may have it's uses for pain relief, but even continuous use in those sorts of doses is ill advised. At first I thought you were sticking to 400mg, which is a medicinal dose, but then I saw that you said "or more", which could be putting your health at even more unnecesary risk (how much exactly do you take, how often, and when did you start?). In the future, only take ibruprofen occasionally for medical reasons, and don't exceed the dose stated on the box/leaflet (and consider taking less than that depending on the severity of the problem).

the original title was something like "The dissociative effects of advil" and it got moderated after the thread was reported for one reason or another. It's good that the title would no longer inspire curiosity in the random newbie who still lives with their parents seeking a household high.

Re: Advil? Ibuprofen has NO recreational effects!

I do not necessarily doubt the original poster. I have heard some interesting opinions about "Motrin IB," another ibuprofen product, over the years. If i got those effects from ibuprofen, I'd be very concerned, and consider ceasing taking it altogether after asking a doctor's advice.
