Dose - What Am I Doing Wrong? Little To No Effects

SWIM purchased a pound of kava off the internet and received it today. SWIM added a half a cup of the ground kava to a blender with 2 cups of milk, and 1 cup of water. SWIM blended the mixture for about 3 minutes. then SWIM strained the mixture through cheese cloth into another pitcher and added chocolate syrup for taste.

SWIM made 2 batches like this and ended up splitting it 3 ways with 2 other friends. all in all, from the 2 batches, SWIM drank 2 glasses of it, and so did both of my friends. the problem is that all of us didnt get much of an effect from it. we felt more relaxed, got a slight mouth and throat numbing, and became a bit more talkative. we havent gotten any of the huge body buzz, or extreem relaxation that SWIM has read some people get.

SWIM's questions are, have we not drank enough, are the batches not strong enough, or SWIM has read that kava can be like weed for some people where you dont get any effects the first time?

any help would be appreaciated.
